I Heard The Bells
Lily Evans was going around the castle on Christmas Break caroling. Her favorite one by far was 'I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day'. So it was no surprise when James Potter found her singing it outside as she skated across the frozen lake. He decided to listen for a while, hidden, before coming around the tree to be seen.

Lily's POV
I was outside singing my favorite carol, 'I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day'.
"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat,
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along th'un broken songs,
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
And in despair, I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, not doth he sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth good will to men."
Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men."
As I finished my song I noticed James standing at a tree, watching me ice skate and sing, with a thoughtful look on his face. I stopped skating and watched him for a little while as he was watching me, then suddenly, he turned and looked straight at me.
