CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

Just let me put it out there: I'm more a Kelly/Erin fan than a Jay/Erin fan, but I honestly think this couple got short-changed cause Sophia was leaving the series and I came up with this. I hope I did them justice. Belongs to Dick Wolf and NBC.

Erin blew out a breath as she entered the precinct, which had been decorated for Christmas, smiling when saw Jay talking to their newest detective, Hailey Upton. Love him so much, she thought to herself. Yes, love. Something that she never thought she'd have in a romantic sense. But something was wrong. She could feel it. He wasn't talking to her unless it had to do with work. But why not? Is he angry at me? she wondered. Well, why else would Jay avoid her outside of work? And he had been so nervous when she had mentioned the Christmas party tonight. But now he was smiling and laughing with the others. Wow…he's amazing, she thought to herself, her lips curving into a smile. She wasn't going to worry about things. No, things were good and she was just going to have fun. Squaring her shoulders, she walked over to them.

"Hey guys," she acknowledged with a soft smile.

"Hey!" Hailey greeted, throwing her arms around her. "You look great," she said, taking in the dark green sleeveless dress that hinted at cleavage stopped at a respectable place on her thighs but still showcased her legs.

"You don't look so bad yourself," the other detective commented, gesturing the red dress that was long-sleeved and stopped a bit before her knees.

"Erin, you look-wow," Jay commented, his eyes widening as they shown with desire. Well, I guess that's one question answered, she thought to herself. He still wanted her, but she still had no clue why he had been avoiding her.

"And you look nice as well," she said, involuntarily licking her lips as she gave him a once-over in his suit was all black except a green trim, covering a nice burgundy dress shirt.

"I'll leave you two to talk," Hailey stated and walked away, leaving Erin to flounder a bit before allowing Jay to take her to a secluded part of the precinct.

"Are you okay?" Erin queried.

"I've been running this over in my mind-trying to figure out the perfect way to ask, but uh-"

"What?" To her surprise, he took a small jewelry box out of his pocket and then dropped down to one knee.

"Jay."

"Erin Lindsay, will you marry me?"

"Yes." She helped him to his feet, smiled at him, and then kissed him as he slid the ring on her finger.

"Merry Christmas, Erin."

"Merry Christmas, Jay."
