A/N: Okay, so first Nate/Cate fic that I know of...score. I love this couple, and will continue shipping them for...forever, that's good. Kristoffer Polaha is my new favorite actor, I think he and Shiri Appleby should hook up in real life. :) it would make my day.
"So, okay, how did we end up in the back of my mom's mini-van?" Baze asked, after finding out that it was Cate's first time.
"You lured me in...with Zema." Cate said pointing at him over the bar, Baze shook his head in puzzlement. "And the Spin Doctors." Cate realizes and points at him again.
"See, I thought it was my mad skills and my rockin' tape deck." Baze said as Cate's eyebrows furrow, ready for clarification.
"Oh your skills, really? You didn't even make it through Two Princes." Cate said, smiling.
Baze laughed as he raised his shot glass. "Touche." He said.
Silence came over them and Baze could feel that the tension had changed completely.
Baze ran his hand across his face. "Hey, listen Cate, I'm sorry." He said.
"Oh come on, it's fine." She said, looking down. "That song it's like five minutes long, so..." Cate said, trailing off.
"No, no, not for that." He said and then rethought it. "I mean, I should be, but umm...back then, I was in over my head and I was afraid that I was going to mess up my can't all be as successful, talented and beautiful as you are." Baze said smiling. "You know, some of us peak in high school." He added.
Cate stared at him for a moment and then looked away. "She has your eyes, Lux." She said, appreciating the entire syllable that was her daughter's name. She finally met Baze's eyes. "I always really liked your eyes." Cate said.
A beat lasted until they were invading eachother's personal spaces, hungrily kissing over the bar. Baze lifted her over the bar, holding her closely as he carried her up the stairs. They struggled getting to the bed, his once very aroused feelings toward the dress she was wearing were wearing off fast as it proved very difficult to get off of Cate. But in the end, his attempts were successful and he had Cate on the bed, gloriously half-naked.
As he moved the strands of hair off of her face and kissed her, he wondered why he ever passed this up in the first place. Cate was gorgeous and she was carrying his child, he could've had this. A perfect little nuclear family, two car garage, and a golden retriever. God, if he could go back to that day...well, at least for the time-being, it all made for quite excellent sex.
Marry him or marry me,
I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see?
I ain't got no future or a family tree,
But I know what a prince and lover ought to be.
? Oh yeah, Two Princes by Spin Doctors, and I also do NOT own Life Unexpected. :Dleese-puhA/N: What do you think? Review,
