The Parting Letter

Wayne Manor

One week after Bruce's rescue

Bruce Wayne was in the midst of reading over some documents pertaining to the investigation about the deaths of his parents when Alfred walked into the study.

"Excuse me Master Bruce, but this letter just came in the mail for you."

"Thank you Alfred."

Alfred placed the letter on the table in front of Bruce then asked him if there was anything else he needed.

"I'm good for moment, Alfred."

"Very well Master, Bruce," Alfred replied then walked away.

Bruce set the file he was reading aside and turned his attention to the letter.

After pulling it from the envelope, he unfolded and saw the following message.

Dear Bruce Wayne. If you're reading this now, I am either on a train heading away from Gotham or waiting for one at the station.

After everything that has happened, I've decided that it's best that I leave your life and this city altogether and I strongly encourage you not to come looking for me. It will only cause more problems for you and for me.

While there is no going back to normal for someone like me, there is going forward and starting anew.

That is my new plan now and the best way you can help me with that is by erasing me form your memory. I think burning this letter after reading it would be a start.

Even though I am moving forward with my life, the fact I allowed myself to be a pawn in my uncles sick plan towards you will haunt me till my dying day and probably in the next life too.

This is the last time you ever hear from me, Bruce.

PS. While I can't speak for the others that stormed in to save you that night, I will say this about Alfred and Selina.

You're lucky to have them in your life and you should cherish every minute you spend with them because out of all the people in Gotham and the world, Alfred and Selina will care about you and love you more than anybody else. In their own ways of course.

Sincerely.

Silver St Cloud.

"What ya reading there, Bruce?" said a voice from the area behind him."

Bruce spun around and saw Selina standing near the window she just walked through.

"Hi Selina, I was just reading a letter I got in the mail."

"From who?" She asked as she walked towards him.

"It's from Silver, the first and last letter I will get from her," Bruce replied than gave it to her so she could read it herself.

Selina read everything before the PS part which was more than enough for her.

"We'll I give the two-faced bitch credit for using good sense to go away and stay away.

"Yeah, you're right."

"So do you want me to do the honors?" Selina asked waving the letter in her hand.

"By all means, Selina."

She walked past Bruce on her way to the fire place and tossed it into the flames as Bruce joined her in watching it burn.

"This feels like we're starring in our own movie," Bruce said.

"It kinda does, kid.

Bruce placed his arm around Selina and smiled.

She had no need to ask him what he was doing, she could already tell that he was just enjoying the moment as much as she was.
