Dear Firebird,

Dear Firebird,

I… I don't know how to say this.

You seemed happy to see me on the North Ice. I hope that even after everything I did… All I did to destroy your relationship with Brennen, that you can forgive me.

I think back on what I did, and I'm horrified. How could I have thought that? How could I have let someone nearly assassinate you? How could I be so blinded by my own selfish desire to be of the prophesied line that I thought you a vixen? How could I, even after you'd married, tried to get you to go on a suicide mission?

I have much to answer for.

Nothing I have done to you has earned the cheerful kindness you gave me those few minutes on the North Ice. I know you have no grounds to, but…

Can you forgive me?

I know you're human… That I might be asking the impossible. You're a hard woman to kill… Something that saved you from me. I'm sorry.

Maybe, with forgiveness, we can be friends.

Maybe I can forgive myself.

Sincerely,

Sentinel Ellet Kinsmen
