This is my first all Bones fanfic. I have written on that was a crossovr between Bones and Standoff on that sight, but was inspired the other night to write this one.
It had been a long week at the lab. Temperence Brennan had been working what seemed like unending shifts at the Jeffersonian trying to help Booth solve the latest murder to fall in his lap. She was exhausted and the only thing she wanted to do when she got home was sink into a nice, warm bubble bath.
Brennan closed the door of her apartment and released a deep sigh. Home. A place she could barely remember this week. She walked immediately towards the bathroom and turned on the water. She adjusted the temperature so the water was just right, not too hot, not too cold. She added some of her favorite bubble bath before grabbing candles from around her apartment. She lit several she had placed around the bathtub as it filled. The candles gave her just enough light so that the overhead bulb did not have to be on driving up the intensity of the headache she had been battling all day.
She carefully set her cell phone within reach on the little glass table that sat near the large claw foot tub. She dared anyone to interupt her solitude. She slowly undressed before flipping off the water and sinking deep into the water filled paradise. She let out another sigh as the bubbles covered her body. She inhaled deeply and sank into the tub soaking her hair before emerging out of the abyss.
Brennan dried her hand and pressed play on her cd player. This cd was one of her favorites. She closed her eyes and felt the tension drain from her body. She was almost completely relaxed when her phone rang.
Brennan sighed as she reached for the device.
"Brennan." She answered not even looking at the caller i.d.
"Hey Bones, it's Booth." He said, not sure why he was calling her.
"What's wrong?" Bones replied thinking he must have another case.
"Nothing, why?" He responded a little unsure of himself and not liking that feeling.
"Oh, why'd you call then?" She asked him pulling herself up a little further in the tub.
"Nothing. Am I interrupting something?" He questioned a little annoyed with the feelings he was battling.
"Just my solitude." Brennan replied smiling.
"What are you doing to create that?" Booth asked wondering why she was being so standoffish.
"I'm in a nice hot bubble bath and enjoying some time alone." She said wondering why he had called, unfortunately Booth only heard bubble bath and his mind had already begun to wonder.
He was picturing her naked as they spoke.
"Booth!" Brennan shouted, "Youdidn't hear a word I said."
"What?" Booth questioned trying to figure out how he missed whatever was so important.
"You weren't paying attention to me. Why did you call?" She asked again.
" I, uh, I just, oh nevermind." He rambled.
"Booth?" Bones inquired wondering why he was acting so strange.
"I was just making sure you were okay." Booth responded trying to regain his composure.
"I'm fine. Why did you think I wasn't okay?" She asked.
"Well I was just thinking if you haven't had dinner yet then maybe we should, you know get some together." Booth stuttered.
Brennan flipped on some more water with her toes as she listened.
"Sure, why don't you pick something up and come over here. I'll see you in about an hour." She hung up the phone not thinking much about having dinner with a friend.
Booth grinned as he hung up the phone picturing Brennan soaking in a tub and grabbing his keys. He never thought when this day began that he would end it in her apartment, but he was glad he was headed there for a date.
