JJ hated the destroyed look on Spence's face when she told them she was pregnant. She wanted to reach out, hug him and tell him that she didn't mean to get pregnant. That she didn't want to have Will's baby. She didn't want to be with Will. Instead she smiled and let Emily hug her.
Hours later she texted him and met him in the hall. "I'm sorry, Spence." Were the first words she said when he came out into the hallway, pulling on a sweatshirt.
"What for?" He asked.
JJ said it in his eyes that he knew what for. "I love you, Spence, you know that right?" He nodded. "I love you so much it hurts," she continued, "but I can't be with you, no matter how much I want too. I have to work things out with Will, for the sake of my family, for the sake of this baby." JJ looked up into his brown eyes. "I hope you understand."
"I understand." Spence said, but his eyes now looked dead.
JJ touched his arm and felt him tense. "I don't mean intellectually, I mean emotionally."
"I understand. I wish you the best." Spence walked away from her. Just before he opened the door to his room he turned to face her. "I will always love you, JJ."
She thought she saw a tear roll down his cheek as he went inside. It took all of her willpower not to follow him. JJ had to force herself to go back to Will's side. She stayed awake until dawn convincing herself she had done the right thing, and she couldn't make herself believe that it was.
