Dusk Revolution
Prologue - Suspicious Strangers
In a dark room inside Academia, in the Fusion Dimension, two people were looking at the glowing screen of a Duel Disk, as it stole the information from Academia's servers. Despite the light being small, it was bright enough to show the two's features. One of them was a boy, and he had messy shoulder length silver hair with green highlights, and yellow-gold eyes. He wore a black and blue unzipped jacket over a grey shirt, black jeans and black boots. The other person was a girl, and she had yellowish-green hair that reached to her shoulder blades with two silver side bangs, grey eyes, and wore a red short-sleeved jacket over a yellow sleeveless shirt, golden knee-length tights, thigh-high greenish-yellow socks and red boots.
The boy hummed in satisfaction as his Duel Disk finally finished stealing the information. That had taken too long. And then he thought about some of the information they got and scowled. They had to rescue these girls. "Hikari." He stated, to which the girl nodded.
"Rescue the girls while you create a distraction. Got it." Hikari nodded, before following Yugure out of the room. Yugure opened the door and looked around, not finding any Academia students. Smirking, he nodded to Hikari, before dashing out of the room and to the right, while his sister sneaked out to the left.
"Man, this was easy." He wondered out loud for himself, deliberately speaking loudly so he could bait the Academia students. "Academia must be pathetic if I could easily sneak in and steal information."
Sure enough, that attracted people. When he left the main building and found himself in a large open area with the two towers keeping the prisoners at either side of the area, a sizable crowd of students was following him. He skidded to a halt, before turning and activating his Duel Disk. "What? Want to stop me?" He mocked. "Then let's duel!"
The mob's response was for them all to activate their Duel Disks in unison, pissed-off expressions on their faces.

Yugure - LP: 8000
Academia Students x 20 - LP: 8000 each
Yugure deadpanned at the downed students as he won the duel. "Okay, that was disappointing. And here I thought Academia prized itself in their powerful duelists…"
"What the hell happened here!?" A girl's voice exclaimed, and Yugure curiously glanced to the side, before widening his eyes at the sight of the fourth of the girls with the same face that were important to the Aquaria Project, or alternatively, Arc-Area Project...And someone who resembled HER. He frowned as he recalled the name from the files...Serena. The girls Hikari was sent to rescue were called Ruri and Rin.
He smirked, before flashing a grin at Serena, as the girl ran past the fallen students and stood across from him. "Oh, nothing much!" He stated cheerfully. "Just me soundly beating these weaklings after stealing files from Academia!"
"What!?" Serena looked at him sharply, before activating her Duel Disk. "Well then, if I beat you, the Professor is sure to recognise my skills and allow me to go to the frontlines!"
He stared at her, unimpressed, before raising his arm and shrugging. "Sure, whatever."
"What about you allow me to intrude in this duel?" Another voice rang out, making Serena turn her head sharply to her left, where the defeated students were lying on the ground, and Yugure to glance curiously in the same direction. A bloodthirsty grin slowly formed in his face, as he recognised the source as well. Academia's top duelist, Yuri.
Serena, however, frowned. "Who is he…" Before long, she scowled at him. "Keep out! This is my duel!"
Yuri merely smiled at her. "Sorry, but the Professor ordered me to ensure he is taken care of. You wouldn't go against his orders, will you?"
Serena gritted her teeth, before reluctantly nodding and lowering her arm. Yugure, however, had other plans. With a friendly smile, he turned to Yuri, as he took her place across from him. "Aw come on, let her duel. I assure you, I'm no pushover!"
Serena shot him an unreadable glance, before looking at a confused Yuri. The purple and pink-haired boy looked at her, before relenting. "Oh, why not."
That made Yugure regain his bloodthirsty grin, flashing it at the, unknown to him, Fusion Counterparts. Yuri remained unflappable, but Serena was unsettled by it. "Great! Now, make sure you make this duel entertaining, will you?"
Serena growled at that, glaring at Yugure.
[DUEL!]
Yugure - LP: 8000
Yuri - LP: 8000
Serena - LP: 8000
As they drew the top five cards from their decks, Yugure gave them a mock bow, speaking in a taunting tone of voice. "By all means, you can start the duel."
Yuri narrowed his eyes, before exchanging glances with Serena. She nodded, and he grabbed a card from his hand. "Very, well, I'll go first. I summon Predator Plants Ophrys Scorpio (LV: 3/ATK: 1200/DEF: 800)!" The monster appeared on the field, and Yuri continued. "With Ophrys Scorpio's effect, by sending a "Predator Plants" monster from my hand to the Graveyard, I Special Summon a Level 3 or lower "Predator Plants" monster from my deck. I send Drosophyllum Hydra and Special Summon Darling Cobra (LV: 3/ATK: 1000/DEF: 1500)!" He showed the card, before discarding it and grabbing another one from his deck, which he slapped in the blade, the monster appearing.
"Darling Cobra's effect! When Special Summoned, I add a Fusion card from my deck to my hand." He showed it, before activating. "And then I activate it!" The card appeared on the field, before Ophrys Scorpio and Darling Cobra began to swirl in a vortex, as Yuri chanted.
"Two beautiful flowers with an insect-alluring fragrance! Now become one, and from the hell beneath your petals, give birth to a new terror! Yūgo Shoukan! Appear! Level 8! Poisonous dragon with hungry fangs, Starve Venom Fusion Dragon (LV: 8/ATK: 2800/DEF: 2000)!"
The monster appeared on the field, and Yuri set a card. "I set a card. Turn end."
"Ore no turn!" Serena drew. "I Summon Moonlight Emerald Bird (LV: 4/ATK: 1200/DEF: 1000)!" The monster appeared on the field, and Serena continued.
"Emerald Bird's effect! Since it was Summoned, I send a "Moonlight" card from my hand to the Graveyard and draw one card! I send Moonlight Yellow Marten!" She showed the card and discarded it, before drawing. "Yellow Marten's effect! Since it was sent to the Graveyard by a card effect, I add a "Moonlight" Magic or Trap card from my deck to my hand! I add Moonlight Courting Dance!" She showed the card.
"Now, I activate Fusion, sending Moonlight Black Sheep and Moonlight Blue Cat from my hand to the Graveyard!" Both monsters appeared on the field and began to swirl in a vortex, as she chanted.
"Blue cat that prowls through the darkness! The beast lurking in jet-black darkness! Spiral into the moon's gravity and become a new power! Yūgo Shoukan! Come to me! Beautiful beast that dances under the moonlight! Moonlight Cat Dancer (LV: 7/ATK: 2400/DEF: 2000)!"
The monster appeared on the field, and Serena set two cards after retrieving Black Sheep. "Since Black Sheep was sent to the Graveyard as a Fusion Material, I add it back to my hand. I set two cards and end my turn."
Yugure grinned widely upon seeing the monsters, although he got a feeling of surprise, confusion, and happiness from Starve Venom, something that confused him. Even then, he hadn't allowed the confusion to appear. He had a duel to win. "Wagahai no turn!" He drew, before looking at the card and back at his two opponents. "Looks like you two are entertaining. "I activate the effect of Blood Dragon Sayra Aruash in my hand! I pay Life Points equal to its Level times 100 to Special Summon it!"
Sayra Aruash was a small dragon that reached to Yugure's chest, made exclusively of tubes coiled together that imitated muscle tissue, like Ennard from Five Nights at Freddy's, and these tubes had either a red or a blue substance running through them, including the tail, that was made of the tubes as well. The exception were its wings' membrane, made of scattered red and white blood cells, forming a stereotypical dragonic wing.
Yugure - LP: 8000 ➡️ 7600
Blood Dragon Sayra Aruash
Dark/Dragon/Effect/Level 4/ATK 2000/DEF 0
"Sayra Aruash cannot declare an attack." Yugure justified his monster's high attack points. After all, low-Level monsters like Sayra Aruash with high attack points had a downside, like Alexandridragon, that was a Normal Monster, or Axe Dragonute, that changed to defense position after the damage step.
"Sayra Aruash's effect!" He continued. "I target a "Blood Dragon" monster in my hand or Graveyard and pay Life Points equal to its Level times 100! Come, from my hand, Blood Dragon Kiwo Uqxo, in defense position!"
Kiwo Uqxo was a dragon cub, reaching to Yugure's knees. It was made of tubes, just like Sayra Aruash, but the substance's color was a light green. Its wings' membranes were made of a milky white molten substance.
Yugure - LP: 7600 ➡️ 7500
Blood Dragon Kiwo Uqxo
Dark/Dragon/Effect/Level 1/ATK 1900/DEF 900
"Interesting." Yuri stated. "Your "Bloodragons" shave away at your Life Points to swarm, and since they can't attack, I guess they are fuel for a summoning method?" He guessed, gesturing at Kiwo Uqxo and Sayra Aruash.
Yugure scowled at the butchering. "It's "Blood Dragons", not "Bloodragons"." He corrected, stressing the separation between the two words, to which Yuri gave a light "Oh.". "But yeah, your guess was spot on. Since Kiwo Uqxo was Special Summoned by another "Blood Dragon"'s effect, I pay 500 Life Points and add a "Bloodkin" card from my deck to my hand. I add Protected Bloodkin." He showed the card, before gesturing at Kiwo Uqxo.
Yugure - LP: 7500 ➡️ 7000
"And by targeting a "Blood Dragon" monster I control, in this case Kiwo Uqxo, and paying Life Points equal to the usual formula, I Special Summon Blood Dragon Maiga Derer."
Maiga Derer was a four-limbed wyvern made of tubes, the substance inside being of a light cream color. Its wings were attached to its forelimbs, and the membranes were made of what appeared to be muscle tissue.
Yugure - LP: 7000 ➡️ 6900
Blood Dragon Maiga Derer
Dark/Dragon/Tuner/Effect/Level 2/ATK 1800/DEF 300
"A Tuner Monster?" Serena asked, before narrowing her eyes and demanding. "Are you from the Synchro Dimension? Answer me!"
Yugure smirked. "Wouldn't you like to know?" He asked in a mocking tone, obviously riling her up, making her nostrils flare. That was it. She was going to beat him up and demand answers, before carding him.
Yuri rolled his eyes at the obvious attempt to anger Serena. That was why he kept quiet. If she was so easily angered, that would spell her doom in a future duel, where her opponent could manipulate her through her emotions.
"I tune the Level 2 Maiga Derer with the Level 1 Kiwo Uqxo and the Level 4 Sayra Aruash!" He declared.
Maiga Derer turned into two green technological rings, while Sayra Aruash and Kiwo Uqxo went through them and turned into five stars, with a white bolt of lightning shooting through the rings right after, as he chanted.
"Being made of life, develop from the substance that fuels the bodies of all beings! Shinkuro Shoukan! Level 7! Take flight, the azure dragon shining in the night sky! Blood Dragon Sapphire Brightscales!"
Sapphire Brightscales was a dragon larger than Starve Venom, the size of a house. Instead of being made of tubes, it was made of containers filled with a dark sapphire blue substance, giving it the appearance of dragonic scales. It had white spikes going from its head to the tip of its tail, and white claws in both fore and hind limbs' toes. The membranes of its wings were made of actual dragon skin.

"Nice Dragon." Yuri complimented. "And that's why I'm doing this! Trap Activate, Dragonvine!" The Permanent Trap flipped open, Yugure's eyes widening in slight surprise. "Since I control a Dragon monster, I take control of yours!" As he finished saying that, vines shot out of the Trap and restrained Sapphire Brightscales, prompting Yugure to look at his monster in concern.
"Sapphire!" He exclaimed, to which the dragon replied with a weak roar, giving him a look of fear and pleading. Yugure grit his teeth in anger, before grabbing a card from his hand. "Quick-Play Magic, Protected Bloodkin!" The card appeared on the field, making Yuri narrow his eyes, while Serena seemed relieved.
She looked at Yugure in approval, before glancing at Yuri in disgust. Stealing the opponent's monster, in her vision, was one of the most dishonorable methods to duel. So, seeing someone who agreed with her was refreshing from the assholes from Duel Academy.
"When a "Blood Dragon" monster would leave my field because of my opponent's effect, it doesn't!" He explained, allowing Sapphire to break free from its restraints, although the Trap stayed on the field, filling one of Yuri's Magic/Trap Zones.
"That means..." Yuri hissed, not happy about losing a spot to place his Magics and Traps.
"Your Trap is useless!" Yugure snorted. "It may target my monster, and its effect my resolve, but my monster stays on my field!"
In response to that, Yuri growled, not happy at all.
"Sapphire's effect! I target a monster my opponent controls, and gain Life Points equal to its Level or Rank times 200." Yugure quickly spoke, gazing between the three monsters on his opponents' fields.
Serena gasped, before quickly activating her set card. "Trap Card, Moonlight Traditional Dance!" She exclaimed, the Normal Trap flipping open. "I equip Moonlight Cat Dancer with it!"
Yugure raised an eyebrow, before glancing at the information on his Duel Disk. "So Cat Dancer now can neither be targeted nor destroyed by my effects? Interesting. Anyways, I'm targeting Starve Venom!" A blue aura covered the Level 8 Dragon, and soon went away, only to cover Yugure.
Yugure - LP: 6900 ➡️ 8500
"Sapphire can attack all monsters you control once." He stated, before entering the Battle Phase. "Battle! Sapphire Brightscales attacks Cat Dancer!" A blue glow appeared at the back of Sapphire's throat, a heat haze forming around its mouth, before a scorching stream of blue flames shot out of Sapphire's maw, washing over Cat Dancer.
Before that, however, Serena was primed to activate her set card, but didn't. Instead, she felt something, and looked at Sapphire's effect with her Duel Disk, what led to her not activating the set card. Thanks to her focus on the monster, she didn't notice a satisfied presence entering her bracelet, causing the gem to shine for a moment.
When the flames receded, Yuri was surprised to see Cat Dancer still on the field, and sent the other two a questioning look. Smirking, Yugure explained. "When Sapphire attacks an attack position monster, that monster isn't destroyed and I gain 500 Life Points."
Serena - LP: 8000 ➡️ 7900
Yugure - LP: 8500 ➡️ 9000
"Now Sapphire attacks Emerald Bird! Azure Flare Stream!" Serena watched helplessly as her Beast-Warrior was roasted, quickly covering her head when the flames licked at her.
Serena - LP: 7900 ➡️ 6600
Yugure - LP: 9000 ➡️ 9500
He then eyed Starve Venom dubiously, before checking the monster's effects. Grimacing, Yugure ended the Battle Phase, and entered his Main Phase two. "Starve Venom has higher attack than Sapphire, and even if I went around that, it's effect would be a pain in the ass. Magic card, Generous Bloodkin. I target Sapphire with it, and since Sapphire attacked more than once in this Battle Phase, I draw a card for every successful attack."
He drew two cards, increasing his hand to four. Looking at them, he made his decision. "I set a card and end my turn."
"Boku no turn!" Yuri snarled in annoyance. "I activate the Permanent Magic Predator Prison!" The card appeared on the field, earning Yugure's curiosity. "By sending the Level 4 Predator Plants Cephalotus Snail, I draw four cards!" He drew, raising his hand to five before giving Yugure a mocking smirk. "And now, you cannot enter the Battle Phase for four of your turns."
Yugure raised an eyebrow, before checking the card's effects. "I see..." He muttered.
Yuri glanced at his cards, before making his move. "I activate a second copy of Fusion, fusing Starve Venom on my field with Predator Plants Easter Lily Lizard in my hand!" The latter monster appeared on the field, before both began to spin in a multicolored vortex, as Yuri chanted.
"Poisonous dragon with hungry fangs! Sweet-smelling flower that invites the abyss! Now become one, and indulge in whatever pleases you! Yūgo Shoukan! Come forth! Level 10! Greedy Venom Fusion Dragon (LV: 10/ATK 3300/2500)!"
The monster appeared on the field, towering over their field, but still dwarfed by Sapphire. Yugure checked that monster's effect as well, and widened his eyes. "Greedy Venom's effect!" Yuri exclaimed. "Your monster's attack is reduced to 0 and its effects are negated (Sapphire: ATK: 2500 ➡️ 0)!"
The dragon roared in pain, what caused Yugure to flinch. "Battle! Greedy Venom attacks Sapphire Brightscales!"
Yugure's dragon was destroyed, much to his chagrin.
Yugure - LP: 9500 ➡️ 6200
Fortunately, he still had his set card. "Trap Card, Inbred Bloodkin!" The Normal Trap flipped open, and Yugure smirked. "First, I Special Summon two "Blood Dragon" monsters from my Graveyard. Come, Sayra Aruash! Maiga Derer!" The two monsters appeared, and his smirk widened. "And then, I perform a Fusion Summon!"
The two monsters began to swirl in a Fusion Vortex, as Yugure chanted.
"Ferocious dragons stained in blood! Join in the drenched spiral of genocide and bring forth a bloodthirsty creature! Yūgo Shoukan! Level 6! Blood Dragon Crimson Thorn!"
Crimson Thorn was, in a sense, identical to Sapphire Brightscales. The same body, the same pattern, the spikes and claws. But, there were differences. For example, its body, while the same size as Sapphire Brightscales, was leaner, less bulky, and the substance it contained was a bloody crimson.
Blood Dragon Crimson Thorn
Fire/Dragon/Fusion/Effect/Level 6/ATK 2500/DEF 1000
Yuri narrowed his eyes, before setting a card. "Turn End."
Serena, on the contrary, was shocked. "A Fusion Monster!?" Yugure grinned at her expression, and that grin was enough to bring her back to earth, leveling a glare at him. "Ore no turn!" She drew. "I activate the Magic Moon Light Perfume! I Special Summon Blue Cat from the Graveyard (LV: 4/ATK: 1600/DEF: 1200)!"
Yugure narrowed his eyes, his smirk turning dangerous. "Blue Cat's effect! I double Cat Dancer's attack points (Cat Dancer: ATK: 2400 ➡️ 4800)! And then, with Cat Dancer's effect, I release Blue Cat! Now it can attack your monsters twice, but it isn't destroyed by the first battle!"
"Nice effect." He complimented.
"Thanks." Serena replied automatically, before blinking in confusion and shaking her head. "Battle! Cat Dancer attacks Crimson Thorn!"
The humanoid feline jumped in the air and brought its daggers into Crimson Thorn's 'scales', breaking open a few and making the substance splash on Yugure, revealing it to be blood.
Yugure - LP: 6200 ➡️ 3900
"Second battle! Full Moon Cresta!" Cat Dancer let go of its daggers, and joined its hands, launching a yellow beam at Crimson Thorn. But, Yugure wasn't done.
"Crimson Thorn's effect!" He countered. "Once during either player's turn, when it battles, neither monster is destroyed and neither player takes battle damage!" Crimson Thorn's wings folded in front of the dragon, blocking the beam. "Then, your monster's attack and defense are reduced to 0, and I gain Life Points equal to your monster's Level times 100 (Cat Dancer: ATK: 4800 ➡️ 0/DEF: 2000 ➡️ 0)!"
Yugure - LP: 3900 ➡️ 4600
"And since that doesn't target, Traditional Dance doesn't protect. Tch!" Serena grunted. "I change Cat Dancer to defense position! Turn End!"
"Finally! Wagahai no turn!" Yugure drew, raising his hand to four. "I activate the Magic Lined Bloodkin!" The Permanent Magic appeared on the field. "Now I don't need to pay Life Points to activate the effects of my "Blood Dragon" monsters, though I need to pay half of my original Life Points to keep it on the field during my next Standby Phase."
"And since his dragons focus on paying Life Points to activate powerful effects..." Yuri began, only for Serena to finish it.
"He'll get the effects for free."
"Exactly! Crimson Thorn's effect! By paying Life Points up to 4000, your monsters have their attack reduced by the same amount!" Yugure replied, smirking widely.
"And since you have Lined Bloodkin's effect..." Yuri spat.
"I pay nothing (Greedy Venom: ATK: 3300 ➡️ 0)! Unfortunately for me, or fortunately with Greedy Venom's effect, the monsters affected by this effect cannot be destroyed. By neither battle or effect." He explained, his voice slowly calming down, as he glanced at Serena. "Including your Cat Dancer, that was affected as well, despite its attack already being 0."
"Next, I summon Blood Dragon Agerth Izu!"
Agerth Izu was, like the other Main Deck "Blood Dragons", a dragon made out of tubes, with yellow blood inside them. It was wingless, but its tail was twice as big as its body.
Blood Dragon Agerth Izu
Dark/Dragon/Effect/Level 2/ATK 1700/DEF 100
"Agerth Izu, like my other Main Deck monsters, cannot attack." He explained, before continuing. "And I activate its effect to add a "Blood Dragon" or "Bloodkin" card from my deck to my hand, not paying Life Points because of my Permanent Magic. I add Rewarding Bloodkin, and activate it, drawing a card for every monster on the field that had its attack or defense changed by the effects of a "Blood Dragon" monster." He drew two cards, raising his hand back to four.
He looked at his cards, before smiling. "I target Crimson Thorn and Special Summon Blood Dragon Sekha Yhjwo."
Sekha Yhjwo was a tail-less dragon made of tubes containing grey blood, with tiny wings, and the membranes of the wings were made of fire.
Blood Dragon Sekha Yhjwo
Dark/Dragon/Tuner/Effect/Level 1/ATK 1600/DEF 0
"Next, I activate Sekha Yhjwo's effect to raise its Level by one (Sekha Yhjwo: LV: 1 ➡️ 2)." He continued, much to Yuri and Serena's confusion.
"Raising that monster's Level? Wait a second... Two Level 2 monsters! A Xyz Summon." Yuri stated confidently, what gained Serena's attention.
"Xyz Summon? Does that mean he's from the Xyz Dimension?" She asked, frowning.
Yuri shook his head. "I don't know, since he uses Fusion and Synchro as well."
Yugure smirked a little, before thrusting his hand forwards. "I tune the Level 2 Sekha Yhjwo to the Level 2 Agerth Izu and the Level 6 Crimson Thorn!"
His opponents snapped back into attention when he declared a Synchro Summon, as he chanted.
"Dragonic deity, with the blood of the very own primordial dragon, be reborn into this bloody, impure world! Shinkuro Shoukan! Level 10! Blood Dragon Dreadful Fate!"
Dreadful Fate resembled a lot the Fatalis from the Monster Hunter series, despite being made of scale-like containers with black blood. It had a long neck and tail, white spines, and four backwards-facing horns. That, in addition to its size easily being bigger than Sapphire Brightscales, contributed to the intimidation factor.
Blood Dragon Dreadful Fate
Dark/Dragon/Synchro/Effect/Level 10/ATK 3500/DEF 2000
"When Agerth Izu is used for the summon of a Fusion, Synchro, or Ritual Monster, I draw one card." Yugure drew, raising his hand to four again.
"What...Is that monster?" Serena gasped, kneeling from the extreme pressure the dragon imposed over them. Dreadful Fate glanced at her, before snorting. She wasn't worth its time.
"Such...Pressure..." Yuri groaned, not believing the power said monster held.
"Dreadful Fate. One of my most powerful monsters." Yugure declared in a monotone. "Feel the power of darkness. Dreadful Fate's effect. By paying 1000 Life Points, I Special Summon a Level 5 or higher "Blood Dragon" monster from my Graveyard. Be reborn, Sapphire Brightscales!" Thanks to his Permanent Magic, Yugure didn't need to pay Life Points to revive his beautiful dragon.
"And also, its other effect, allowing Dreadful Fate to gain a Level 5 or higher "Blood Dragon" I control's effect in addition to its own, the target obviously being Sapphire Brightscales." He continued, Dreadful Fate letting out a powerful roar that shook the island to its very core.
"Now I activate both Sapphire and the copied effects, both targeting Greedy Venom, and giving me 4000 Life Points."
Yugure - LP: 4600 ➡️ 8600
"His Life Points are back to the start...!" Serena grit her teeth.
"Also, when Dreadful Fate is on the field, my monsters gain 500 attack and defense for every card you control. With six, that's a boost of 3000 (Dreadful Fate: ATK: 3500 ➡️ 6500/DEF: 2000 ➡️ 5000|Sapphire Brightscales: ATK: 2500 ➡️ 5500/DEF: 4300)."
"That's fine...We have Predator Prison..." Serena muttered, obviously not used to such high stats on the opposing field.
"Not for long. Magic Card, Smug Bloodkin. If you control a monster that had its attack or defense reduced by the effects of a "Blood Dragon" monster, I destroy a card on your field. Say goodbye to Predator Prison."
The Permanent Magic was destroyed, forcing Yuri to discard his hand and send the top four cards of his deck to the Graveyard, which he did, all with a hateful glare at Yugure. Honestly, he rubbed him off the wrong way. It made him feel burning anger, hatred, and hostility towards Yugure (Dreadful Fate: ATK: 6500 ➡️ 6000/DEF: 5000 ➡️ 4500|Sapphire Brightscales: ATK: 5500 ➡️ 5000/DEF: 4300 ➡️ 3800).
"Battle! Dreadful Fate attacks Cat Dancer!" Yugure declared, befpre pausing and glancing at Yuri's set card. "Both my monsters inflict piercing damage, and Sapphire's effect is optional." He spoke up, causing Yuri to widen his eyes and activate his facedown.
"Trap Card, Ridicule World! All monsters you control gain 100 attack points, and all monsters with higher attack than their original amount cannot attack!" He snapped, the card flipping open to reveal a Normal Trap (Dreaful Fate: ATK: 6000 ➡️ 6100|Sapphire Brightscales: ATK: 5000 ➡️ 5100).
"Gotcha." Yugure smirked, making Yuri widen his eyes again, with Serena in a near-panic state. "Dreadful Fate's effect! If a card effect is activated that would prevent my "Blood Dragon" monsters from declaring an attack the turn the effect was activated, my monsters can attack anyways!"
His smirk turned into a menacing grin. "Face it, you had already lost!" As he stated that, Dreadful Fate's lightning breath pierced through Cat Dancer, that cried out.
"Nooooo!" The monster shouted as the lightning pierced through its chest, causing Serena to gape, before the lightning hit her and knocked her away. She hit the ground with her head, and she quickly slipped into unconsciousness. Cat Dancer screamed in anguish, before rushing towards her master.
Serena - LP: 6600 ➡️ 500
"Sapphire, end her Life Points." He spoke, and his dragon easily complied.
Serena - LP: 500 ➡️ 0
"Now, Dreadful Fate, lay down on Greedy Venom! Thunderbolt Revolution!" Another lightning breath pierced through a monster, but this time, it was through Greedy Venom's shoulder.
"I won't let you.. Touch my master!" The plant-like dragon roared, earning a respectul gaze from Dreadful Fate.
Yuri - LP: 8000 ➡️ 1900
"Let's end this! Sapphire Brightscales, close the curtain of this duel with your Azure Flare Stream!" The resulting flames roasted both Greedy Venom and Yuri, ending the duel with a blast. In consequence, the monsters disappeared, with Cat Dancer howling in anger, before trying to attack Yugure with its claws. Fortunately for him, Cat Dancer disappeared when the daggers were a mere milimeter from his eyes.
Yuri - LP: 1400 ➡️ 0
Serena - LP: 0
Yugure - LP: 8600
Yugure Wins!
Yugure panted as he fell to his knees, clutching the left side of his face. "These damn powers of mine..." He grumbled, as his right eye flashed white with a black sclera for a second, before reverting to normal.
The screen of his Duel Disk suddenly lit up, and he turned his attention to it, slowly rising to his feet and uncovering his left eye. Tapping the screen, he frowned lightly. "What's up, sis?"
"I got the girls."
"Gotcha." He nodded at seeing his sister's face on the Duel Disk, and let go of his frown. "You know what to do. I'll see you in Standard."
With that, he turned off his Duel Disk, and moved over to Serena, picking her up in a princess carry once he reached her unconscious form. With everything done, he activated his Dimensional Transporter, vanishing in a shower of blue sparks.
What he never noticed, however, were two people watching the duel. One of them was a boy leaning against a wall with arms crossed, and wore a black jacket over a grey shirt, light blue jeans and black and white shoes, his eyes and hair hidden by the wall's shadow. A black and white Duel Disk identical to Yugure's could be seen in his left arm.
The other person was also a boy, but taller than the first. He was standing a little away from the first boy, fists clenched as the shadow from the window they watched the duel from hid his eyes and hair. He wore a dark blue hoodie, black pants, and white shoes. A Duel Disk identical to Yugure's could be seen in his right arm.
"The demon duelist..." The second boy snarled quietly, causing the first one to open an eye, revealing a startling grey color.
"Chill, man, he's out of our range right now. You'll get him later." He deadpanned, before closing his eye again.
The second one growled, and began to glare daggers at his companion with his blue eyes. "Shut it, Kanjo!"
"Yeah, yeah." The first boy, Kanjo, waved his hand, yawning. "Face it, you're obssessed with him. If I didn't know you better, I'd have thought you had a crush on the guy."
"Kanjo..." The unnamed boy began growling and raising his Duel Disk, with a tone of warning in his voice.
Kanjo opened both his eyes and glared at the boy. "Just stop it, Raijin! Why don't you go and do something instead of standing there and growling at empty air!"
Raijin's glare turned more vicious, before he dropped his arm and walked away heavily, leaving Kanjo alone. The latter sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Asshole's a piece of work... Why did I even go with him to that place? Oh yeah, because I'm the one responsible for damage control." He shook his head, before leaning towards the window and looking out of it, smirking. "Your skills have improved..."
"...Little brother."
Yugure sighed, his left hand covering half of his face, as he waited for Serena to wake up. Honestly, the raid on Academia was a success, but something was amiss. It had been too easy. He could feel a powerful presence on Academia, no, two presences. Yet, they did not appear to challenge him. It was wrong, wrongwrongwrongtheyshouldallowhimtoannihilatethem-
He inhaled sharply, and uncovered the left half of his face, showing a distorted and bloodthirsty grin clashing with a worried and thoughtful frown. "Fuck, I hate this madness..." Yes, he hated it, no, loathed it to the depths of his being, yet it was so refreshing-
No! He wouldn't. He wouldn't fall to the madness. He would maintain the reason. He took a slow, deep breath, and closed his eyes, going to the mindscape he created to separate madness from reason.
It was empty. A clear blue sky over an endless sea. He stood on the sea, glaring at the underwater, where the madness made itself home. A swirling mass of black and red, white and blue. And oh, how he hated, despised, loathed it. Yet, he was afraid of it.
Afraid of what will happen if he falls to the bottom of the madness.
Afraid of hurting the people he cares about.
Afraid of the foreign entity called 'madness'. Afraid of knowing exactly what happened when he left the Nexus to interfere with Academia's plans, the time when the madness implanted itself on his subconscious. Oh, how he hated and was afraid of it. What a contradiction.
"We're all mad down here..."
He gritted his teeth, as the voice he heard back then showed itself.
"Welcome the madness...Be swept away in its soft embrace..."
"GO TO HELL!" He roared, causing his mindscape to implode.
He opened his eyes to the abandoned warehouse he had appropriated to be his base in Standard, with Serena slowly waking up on the makeshift bed he prepared. Taking a deep breath, he erased the scowl on his face, turning it into a small frown. A flashing light on his Duel Disk reminded him that Hikari would arrive soon.
"Where am I...?" Serena asked, sitting up. She blinked twice, before noticing Yugure and activating her Duel Disk. "You!"
"Finally awake, aren't you?" He quipped, ignoring the hard light blade at his throat. "Anyways, I took you out of Academia, in order to screw up Akaba Leo's plans, which I highly dislike."
"The Professor's objective of creating an Utopia is a noble one!" Serena argued back, glaring at Yugure. He merely looked at her with an unimpressed look.
"Is that what they told you or what you saw for yourself?" He asked, deadpanning. A small frown on Serena's face was enough to know of her answer. "They told you, right? Well, what if I told you, Akaba Leo's plans are the furthest away from an Utopia it'll ever get?"
"You lie." She spoke coldly, pressing her Duel Disk's blade further, drawing a little blood.
"Nope. Not lying." He fiddled with his Duel Disk, before bringing up footage of Academia's attack on Heartland and showing it to her. "Tell me, if his objectives were of creating an Utopia, would he order the slaughter of innocents? Of children, babies, and elderly people who can't defend themselves?"
When Serena tried to back away, he grabbed her wrist and shoved the footage on her face. "Tell me, Kuchiki Serena, is Academia's cause just enough to cause a genocide? Because, there is nothing that justifies killing people. Nothing that justifies invading and attacking a dimension with no previous knowledge of the other dimensions. Tell me..."
"...Do you think Academia is doing the right thing?"
...Okay, I think I was over-enthusiastic in that last part. In my defense, I've just managed to get past an especially nasty Writer's Block. Anyways, this is the new and improved version of Dusk Revolution, and certainly the final one. Peace Out!
