– dedicated to the ever-wonderful Kassidy, or when life was simple, because this poem is named for her previous username. ^^ /j'adore, my dear sister – and to Snowstorm xD, because you're epically special and don't let any fight with your parents ever make you forget that. (:

stars shine for you

keep shining, darlin' –
like the star(s) in the sky
(but) they can('t) shine bright(er)
than you (ever) will

and I'm raw (sliced) flesh
pulsing in (a) citrus(y) shower(s)
throbbing and reli(e)ving your pain
like tears in papercuts
and antiseptic in wounds
(like the many you've opened for me)

and at times I want to be(lieve) you(,) but
nothing is certain, no –
not in this world of (in)sanity
(not even the fact that you shine like a million stars)

in my world, sweetheart,
I believe no one.
not even (my) (t)rusty old friends
(because they are all liars)

(even if) they're all that I have
in this world of (f)light
and painful exposure

you (don't) belong in the(ir) world
(not) of lies and games
of clues and tricks
of (mis)trust
forever and (n)ever

but your heart is (all you have)
(to cling to)
like glitter in his(sing) electricity

like rip(ple)s across water
like loose threads in silk
like tainted echoes and voices that bounce
bounce back to you

and painted smiles
and plastic emotions
and honeyed voices that sing
(and lemon juice in his eyes)

have you (n)ever thought of powdered stardust
with its magic spark(le)s of light
illuminating bottomless voids
because I do(n't), all the time

because standing in the spotlight
is(n't) all that it seems
forever does(n't) exist

tick-tock, tick-tock

time frozen in space
trapped in a ray of hope
a ray of light
free(ze) yourself in time, dear
(maybe it won't hurt so much)

like galaxies of tossing fire(s)
like comets streaking across skies
like splashes of se(pi)a and (s)him(mers)

stars shine for you, baby – so make it count.

a/n – so is this terrifically vague and abstract? /nods – it was a random thought inspired by the madrigals' prompt – light ^^ believe it or not, these few words took hours to craft and after thousands of drafts, this is what i came up with. i suppose most of you won't like this – but review? please? (: [ and this piece has got to be the most annoying poem i've ever written this is a repost and the seventeenth time i've rewritten it. ]

(so who do you think this is? :D)

disclaimer i do not own this style of writing, and probably never will . . . i first came across it in a book of poetry. [ i will admit that 'beautiful insomniac' did inspire this in some way, it just spurred me on further. ]
