The Road Ahead

I've walked so far and long,

On this bumpy road,

I trudge on up the hill,

with my heavy load.

My arms are sore, my feet are tired,

I want to sit and stay,

But then I think of the other side;

I'll make it there one day.

Once I get to the top,

I'll have so much fun running down.

All the aches will be worth it,

Because of the great reward I will have found.

So on I walk up the hill,

With a smile on my face,

Walking down a straight path,

Could never beat this place.

I make it to the top,

And hear the crowd go roar.

I see their grins and smiles,

And I know it's me they're cheering for,

As I race on down the hill,

With the crowd, I laugh.

I see so many new roads,

Coming from this path.

I look down each one with care,

And pick the one that's best,

I can't wait for another hill,

For the cheering beats the rest.

If I walked down a straight path,

Easy, it would be,

But with no downs there are no ups,

And this way I'll be proud in me.
