"All pilots prepare for take-off!"

Kira Yamato did his final adjustments to the Freedom. It was the time for the battle at Jachin Due, and he hoped it'll be the last. It had been a long, tiring war and he really wanted it to end.

'I'll do my best,' he thought.

Kira fingered the ring given to him by the commander of the ship he was on, Lacus Clyne. He had always had certain feelings for her; but as long as Fllay is still alive, this feeling can never be. He was stuck in this situation, and he hated it.

"Hey, Kira," a voice called over the communicator.

Kira looked up to find the face of his twin on the screen.

"Cagalli," he began, "are you really sure you want to launch?" he questioned, somewhat meekly.

A frown etched across the blonde's face, "Not you too," she snapped, irritated, "Athrun said the same thing. Haven't you guys notice I'm sixteen and not six! I can take care of myself!" she protested.

Kira winced; Cagalli had a fiery temper. He really didn't see how he could be related to this female who would get mad at the drop of a pin. Thank goodness they were on different ships.

"That's not what I'm saying," he assured hastily, "but it's normal for Athrun and I to be worried about you. You're inexperienced and-." Kira was cut off when his sister bristled.

"Excuse me!" she interrupted, "What did you just say!"

The chestnut-haired teenager gulped, "Cagalli, don't get the wrong meaning," he pleaded, "I'm just worried for your safety. You're my only sister!"

Cagalli softened, "Fine," she huffed, "but if anyone should be worried, it's me. You and Athrun faced a lot of near-death battles and survived because of luck. Can you guys get lucky once again?" she wondered.

"We'll be careful, Cagalli," Kira replied.

"I know you will," said Cagalli, "and I'll look out for your backs. Both of you are important to me."

Despite the situation they were in, Kira found himself smiling, "Don't worry about us; you just take care of yourself."

"Freedom, you are clear for launch."

"See you later, Onee-chan," Kira winked as he broke the link and prepared to take off.

Cagalli's jaw dropped open, perplexed.
