Okay, this is just a fill-in chapter explaining everything that you will find confusing later on if you don't know, so, PLEASE READ!
This chapter will also explain some things about the story. Hope you enjoy it!
You know those slangs? Like Stiff and such? Well, now each fraction has their own 'slangs' usually to comprehend which fraction you belonged in before.
Huh? Why 'fraction' ? because it's math! While I was talking to my friend about the Divergent trilogy, and about the factions, she thought I said fractions, and then spouted out a bunch of different ideas about a story, so I said...
Flashback
"Oh, I know this website called fanfiction. net, so we can publish the story!" I laughed.
"Really?" She laughed.
"Yup." I grinned. "We can publish it. So like, there could be uh..."
"So there's subtraction, multiplication, division, and addition." She interrupted.
"Amity could be Amiddition!" I suggested. "Because they must add piece to the world?"
"That sounds so stupid, but this story will be funny, not serious." She said. "What about...Abtraction?"
"Yeah!" I agreed. "The Abnegation want to subtract their selfishness for more selflessness! Oh, what about..."
'Dauntvision!" She laughed.
"Daunt...vision?" I tried it out. "Alright! The Dauntless want to divide their bravery so more people have it! What about Can...duplication? Canduplication."
"The Candor want to...multiply their honesty." She said.
"Yeah, sure. What about Erudite? I think there should just be four faction-I mean fractions, since there's only four basic math things." I said.
"Well, Erudite aren't really basic, so why don't they be all of them together?" She suggested.
"Then what would happen to the Divergent?"
"Then they can be...frac-no...decimals!" She cheered. "Yeah! Decimals!"
"Eru...icimal?" I laughed. "Eruicimal?"
"Uh, yeah!"
And that's the factions, now onto the 'slangs' to tell which faction you belonged in before, we were in the music room with a substitute teacher, watching a movie.
Flashback
"They should have new names, because it's a different world." I whispered.
"The Abnegation's names should start with Sub or minus...since they're subtraction." She giggled.
"So...Sub-Tris?" I tried hard to keep my laughter in.
"The way the music sounds...it's...delicious!" The man from the movie said. The class burst into laughter, but theirs was a different reason. get it? Sub-Tris? Subway? Subway-Tris?
"Yeah!" She laughed.
"What about Four? He's a number, so he just fits in immediately." I said.
"Do, the Dauntvision people will be numbers." She suggested.
"The Eruicimal people will be...Dec, for Decimal." I said.
"The Canduplication will be Mul or times, since they're missing the 'Mul' in multiplication." She babbled.
"Amiddition will be Add or plus." I grinned, it immediately faded. "But Dauntless isn't the center of all factions, so why is it different? It should be...divided by...div by! Their names will start with div by!"
"Div by Eric?" She burst into laughter, immediately shutting up from the glare of the substitute, only to laugh again.
"Div by Max." I grinned.
And that were how the fraction surnames were invented. Well, that's all the filler-in there is! Stay tuned for the next chapter!
