Sunglasses
Hi everyone, so I know its been quite a long time since Saturday, but I had the idea for this story whilst I was in bed last night... hope you enjoy! :)
Issy xx
It was the day after Zoe and Max had finally accepted that they loved each other, Max jumped out of Zoe's car, unseen, and walked through the entrance of the ED. Soon Zoe followed, heels clicking along the floor. She was wearing one of her royal blue dresses and her navy coat. Because of the bags under her eyes, she had chosen to wear some of her large, and very expensive, sunglasses.
The sound of her heels broke the quietness of the ED. It was early, but unusually quiet for the ED. Noel and Louise were, as usual, standing bickering behind the desk. Zoe made her way towards her office but was stopped by Noel.
'Zoe, any reason for the sunglasses?' Noel asked with a smile on his face, knowing exactly why she was wearing them.
'It's sunny outside.' Zoe replied.
'Zoe, I hate to break it to you, but it's typical English winter weather outside.' Louise pointed to the doors where you could see the rain pelting down on the cars and the doctors arriving to start their shift as they ran to enter the department shaking the rain off their coats and umbrellas.
'I always drive in sunglasses.' Zoe persisted on.
'Zoe we all know the reason that you are wearing sunglasses is because you were kept up last night by a man.' Noel informed Zoe. Zoe smiled and carried on towards her office, hearing the sniggers from Louise and Noel behind her.
'Who is it?' Louise shouted.
'None of your business!' Zoe turned her head round and shouted back.
She carried on to her office and shut the door, sighing and kicking off her heels. She was exhausted. Max did know how to keep her awake. She sat down at her desk and noticed that underneath some of the files there was a purple plastic wrapper sticking out. She picked up the files and set them on the floor, revealing a big cadburys chocolate bar. On top of it there was a little note stuck to the plastic with Sellotape. On it there was a little doodle of sunglasses, and a message that read "hope this will encourage you not to wear your sunglasses all day! MJ xx" Zoe smiled to herself, Max always knew how to please her. She ripped open the wrapper and put a chunk of chocolate in her mouth, savouring the sweet taste. At this point there was a knock on the door.
'Come in!' Zoe shouted whilst still eating the chocolate. The door clicked open and in front if her stood Max, grinning.
'Enjoying the chocolate I see.' He joked. He stepped into the room and locked the door behind him.
'Seeing as you don't share and office with Connie, we don't have to hide in my one. Yours is much more spacious, although you really do need to talk to your interior designer.' Max said, whilst remembering the time when Zoe had told him that.
'Oh really? So your cleaning supplies beat my bar of chocolate?' Zoe flirted, whilst moving closer to Max.
'Oh yes, cleaning is my favourite thing to do!' Max said laughing, Zoe chuckled and pulled Max down onto the sofa.
suddenly there was a knock at the door, Zoe pulled away from Max, who ducked down under the desk. Zoe ran a hand through her hair to flatten it down before opening the door.
Connie was standing outside.
'Zoe, what are you doing?'
'Paperwork' Zoe replied.
'Ok, well we need you, RTC, 5 minutes.' Connie said whilst peering into the office to see if there was anyone in there. Max smirked from under the desk, time to have some fun...
Max blew a raspberry into his elbow. At the door Connie looked disgusted.
'Sorry, baked beans for tea last night.' Zoe said quickly, putting a hand to her stomach.
Then Max sneezed. Zoe froze, what could she say now?
'What was that?' Connie asked.
'Ummm, the new text ringtone on my phone.' Zoe said.
Connie looked confused but nodded before strutting off down the corridor.
Zoe turned back into the office.
'You, Mr, are in deep trouble...'
