Ezio had just returned to Monteriggioni after a mission. To say the mission was a success or a failure was not easy. He was weary. Weary of the fight against the Templars, weary of the struggles…weary of losing people he cared for.
He lost the one true person who took the time to show him what it was to be an assassin. A true assassin and not one out for revenge. An assassin that looks after the innocents. Her name was Ziva. She could tell you anything you wanted to know. A bookworm some would call her but the knowledge she held was that rivaled by the very Templars themselves. Originally born in Constantinople, she became a lethal assassin under her father's mentoring until his death. She had found letters that were addressed to her father to Ezio's father. That was how she tracked him down and saved his and his remaining family's life.
Ezio smiled when he remembered how she first met him. "What is a little fledgling doing by trying to take flight so early?" Ziva had told him. He never knew what she meant until now. When he had first met her, he had no idea what and how to be an assassin. That was until Uncle Mario had convinced her to be his mentor. She was mean and rough at first but once you truly know her, she is graceful, methodical and motherly.
Now she was gone. She sacrificed herself for him and now he was heart broken. Ziva was the only one he could truly talk about things from deep within his heart.
He sat in his room, isolated from the world. It was then he noticed something on his desk. An envelope that was sealed. Ezio did not recognize the seal, it was of Arabic script. He opened it and saw that it was a letter. Not jus a letter, but a letter from Ziva.
Dear Ezio,
If you are reading this, then it must mean I have passed from this world. Do not morn my death for I have lived my life to the fullest. I have done all I can in my power to stop the Templars. I have even passed down the teachings of my father to you. That is something t o be proud of for my father is a descendant of Altair, the grand master of the Syrian assassins. My father's knowledge is now yours.
I know you must be very sad of my passing but think of it this way. I am always with you in spirit. Each time an eagle flies by you it is I. You are no longer the little fledging I meet in Florence. You are now an Eagle, graceful and deadly. I am proud of you Ezio.
Always remember this Ezio. Each day we live, there are challenges we must overcome. Sometimes they can break us but that's okay. Life isn't easy and neither are challenges. These challenges are life's challenges that are there to make us learn. You may even be facing a challenge as we speak.
All I ask is that you never give up. Sadness is always around but we should always remember that the people we loose are never truly gone. They are within our hearts and mind. They are in the memories that we share with others. So please do not be sad about my fate. Keep moving forward and help those who need it.
I want you to move forward with your life and make it happy. My father used to tell me, we may amount to something but in the end we are stories that are told to other for inspiration and to help those find meaning.
Take care Ezio. I will always be watching over you from the sky.
Ziva
Ezio smiled to himself as he wiped away some stray tears. He would miss her but just like she said, he needed to more forward in life and help those in need. So he made a promise to her. He would move forward and live his life to the fullest like Ziva did.
Author's Notes: I was playing Assassins Creed Syndicate and this just popped in my head. A short little one shot.
