Draco watched as his son, Scorpius, boarded the train. He came out of a tiny compartment window ushering his father closer, "Father?"
Draco walked forward and nodded to his son.
"Promise you'll write to me. Everyday if you have to!" Scorpius whispered.
Draco looked into his sons pale blue eyes, which he inherited from his mother. He couldn't see same malice, the same hatred that once harbored in his eyes.
As he caught the nervous glare of his son, Draco simply smiled, "Of course, I promise you I will."
He turned away from Scorpius heading back towards his wife to see a bewildered smile entangled upon her face.
The train made a jolt and the whistle sounded from afar. The ruby red locomotive frame was shining brilliantly in the fall sunlight.
Draco Malfoy took one more look at his son and said, "Take care."
Scorpius nodded and waved to his parents that were shrinking off into the distance. For the first time in many years, Draco took in his surroundings and breathed in the deep fall air.
He then looked over to his wife and put his arm around her as she did also. "And you told me that you wouldn't be a good father, Draco." she smiled at him airily.
"I had my doubts."
She sighed, "But those doubts were overcome by the love you give to Scorpius."
Draco nodded in agreement, "If only my father were like this earlier in my childhood. I regret everything I ever did when I was young."
His wife looked at him taken aback, "The past is gone, done with. You started anew when Scorpius was born. Put it all aside you, Draco."
They headed to the exit of King's Cross, exiting out of Platform Nine and 3/4. As they were walking out of the station, Draco thought he saw the faintest sign of a beared man with long midnight blue robes in the distance waving to him. He only smiled to himself looking down at his right arm where the Dark Mark lay, fading slowly. Nineteen years later, it had not caused him a single pain. All was at peace as he and his wife clung tight to each other vanishing off into the distance. He was home, he was finally home.
