Summary: On the one year anniversary of his death, a Semper Fi toast is made.
Author's note: This is kinda depressing... I know I said I wasn't writing for any more Fandoms, but this story got stuck in my head... I guess I'm probably going to start writing for NCIS, but not nearly as much as I write for Criminal Minds. Reviews are much appriciated.
The man walked slowly to the gravesite, his footsteps crunching through the fresh snow. Sighing heavily he pulled his jacket tighter around him.
"GIBBS!" The Agent watched as his boss jerked back sharply, and crumpled to the ground. Hearing Ziva shout in pure rage and shoot their suspect, he shrugged out of his NCIS jacket and dropped to his knee's beside his boss. Wadding the jacket up quickly he applied as much pressure to the chest wound as he possibly could, shouting for a medic. "You can't die on me Jethro! You just can't!" Gibb's lifted up his hand and touched his lover's face gently.
"I love you," the words were raspy, and blood pooled at the corners of Gibbs' mouth. Tears streamed down both of their faces, and the young Agent pressed a gentle kiss to his lover's lips, wincing as he tasted blood.
"I love you too Jet, but you can't leave me now! You've got to hold on." Ziva grabbed him from behind and pulled him, struggling to get back to his lover as the paramedics rushed to the fallen man's side. "JETHRO!" He watched helplessly from Ziva's arms as they loaded him onto a gurney and pushed him toward the ambulance.
"I'm going with him!" Ziva nodded and helped him into the ambulance, kissing his cheek hastily.
"He will be alright, Gibbs, he is a strong man and a fighter. You be strong for him, yes?" He nodded and jumped in the ambulance, taking his lover's hand again.
"Not now Gibb's, not now."
Gibb's blinked rapidly, his breath coming in short spurts, even with the oxygen mask on his face. "I love you."
The sound of the heart monitor flat lining was the worst sound he had ever heard in his life.
"I miss you, Jet. Every single day." Sighing and reaching into his coat pocket, he sat down on the cold ground. "I can't believe you've been gone a year already, it's so hard to go home every night and sleep in our bed without you." Pulling out a silver flask, Tony DiNozzo-Gibbs turned his lover's treasured flask over and over in his hands.
Giving a small smile, Tony opened the flask and raised it toward the grave. "Semper Fi, Jethro, Semper Fi." Tony took a long pull from the flask before standing back up and pressing a soft kiss to the headstone.
