Hello, Odds here!
I'm not going to use the "this is my first fanfic" as an excuse, but it might take awhile to get a story uploaded in the way I wanted it to be.
These stories are going to be drabbles on certain events in Gem History before Steven came along (The war for Earth, etc.). These stories will be told on both Homeworld's view, and the Crystal Gems' view.
Flames don't help building stories, they burn them down. Construction criticism helps build story.
First story will be based on Pearl's view of the gem war, before Steven came.
Disclaimer: If I owned Steven Universe that would not be a good thing, as I would probably ruin it.
The gem war, where the Rose Quartz, and the entire Crystal gems proved that Homeworld's strength is no match for a good moral, and the brilliant Rose Quartz. We were a powerful fighting force! Though weak in numbers, we tore down those filthy Homeworld with great patriotism (which, probably inspired the 13 colonies to do the same with England!)
Now, this didn't all originate out of nowhere, not fabricated!
It all began when Rose Quartz, known as Pink Diamond on Homeworld, landed on Earth, when she started supervising construction of the Kindergarten there (She didn't contribute much, mind you). She met humans as she traveled across the lands that have been hunting grounds for them, and started a diplomatic envoy.
I accompanied her, but only for the section of the journey, as I was not fortunate enough to go with her.
Homeworld, of course, realizing that this would damage public face, attacked and murdered the humans, for there own needs.
Rose was horrified by these events, and started gathering up more sympathetic gems, and started to prepare for a Coup De-tat, as you humans call them.
I believe that I think I maybe accidentally attracted some Homeworld gems blinded by their patriotism for Homeworld, thus making Homeworld realize that there was a rebellion on earth.
Oh what am I saying, I didn't cause that!
Rose and many other top gems (including me!) gathered around in our base, as we looked for strategies to deter Homeworld. It was then, when an odd gem, with square hair, and a tall and strong looking frame, came up to Rose.
She was Garnet.
Rose was ecstatic! Using fusion, as it is called today, we formed extremely strong warriors, and battled against Homeworld.
It was an extremely long battle, with Homeworld outmatching us, but with Rose at the front, we defeated them, destroying them or making them retreat. Homeworld Gems had around 120,000, while we only had around 30,000 in terms of total army size.
But alas, I made my own errors in the battle. Most of the time, I didn't help defend Rose, she was nearly shattered a few times, but I couldn't help, with my extreme ignorance of the situation. But at the times I did help her, I saved her, with only a few small cracks here and there in my gem. She was the defense, I was the offense. Together, we were an unstoppable team.
She was concerned, but she didn't need to. I was her knight, and she was my liege. I was prepared to die for her.
Even that was not enough. Almost all gems were destroyed, with only Garnet, Rose, and Me still standing, while the rest was shattered.
The tide was turned there; Homeworld was in full retreat, never coming back to this planet again.
Rose Quartz will always be there for me, and I will always be there for her.
