Renesmee wants a dog.
Edwards's pov
"But daddy please" Renesmee pleaded with me "It's ALL I want for my birthday I just want a dog." Hasn't she got one already Rosalie thought. Privately I chuckled at that thought though I muttered "be nice" under my breath at her so quietly that Renesmee's half human ears couldn't catch it."It's not fair" Renesmee humped not quite daring to shout it probably remembering what had happened the last time she had lost her temper with me and Bella. "I bet Grandma Esme will let me have one" she said running out of the room in the direction of the garden, where Esme was planting a new tree Carlisle had brought her the day before.
"She wants this so badly" I said to Rosalie and Bella who had appeared at my side after hearing the commotion "it breaks my heart to have to say no, but I don't think that anyone in this house wants another dog Jacob is more than enough." "Edward!!!" Bella chastised trying not to laugh. "It's true though" stated Rosalie. "One mutt is quite enough for this house."
Renesmee's pov
I ran out of the house towards Esme thinking carefully thankful that my momma had taken to shielding my thoughts from daddy because she thought I needed privacy. I really wanted a dog and by now I knew that if my daddy said no he meant it, I also knew that my momma would never agree to something my daddy had said no to. Even Aunty Rose was no help on this one as she hated dogs (and wolves) even more than my Dad did!!!This left me with one option. My Grandma Esme. She would do anything for me and I would only have to tell one little lie, well no it wasn't really a lie just twisting the truth a little...
Esme's Pov
Renesmee my sweet little angel who reminded me so of the child I had lost all those years ago came flying out of the house towards me in quite passion her face and eyes red. I looked up and was shocked when she said "Daddy and Aunty Rose are horrible they won't get me a dog." I barley suppressed a chuckle at what I imagined Rosalie and Edwards reaction to that particular request would have been. She lifted her pretty face to mine and said "But he did say that I could have a dog just that he wouldn't get me one." I frowned at that, it wasn't something I could imagine Edward saying and just to make sure I said "Renesmee are you sure he said that?" "Of course Grandma Esme" she said "why would I lie to you?" "Of course you wouldn't sweetie" I said now, here's what we are going to do I will get you a dog, but it is going to have to be our little secret how's that I said." "Perfect!!!" she gushed, "it's going to be the bestest Birthday ever!!!"
I love making Renesmee happy it feels like she is my own daughter and not Bella and Edwards. Talking of which I better go and get this dog for Renesmee before Edward has a chance to read my thoughts. I want it to be a surprise for everyone.
I jumped into my car an Aston Martin DBS that Carlisle had given me for my birthday. I am not that bothered about cars to be honest, but this car was very pretty and very fast not that I had tested it... I zoomed down the road to Port Angeles where I knew that there was someone trying to sell black Labrador puppies and more to the point the person did not know me or the rest of my family so there was no chance of anyone finding out until the big day arrived.
I got back to the house having chosen a puppy a boy that I thought Renesmee would like. They had all been weaned from their mother and were ready to come home. I had also extracted a promise from the man who owned them that he would drop of the puppies at the big house tomorrow on Renesmee's birthday September 11th a day none of us Cullen's will ever forget.
