I don't own Naruto, and never will.

Temari stared at the picture in the book, unable to reconcile it with the information beside it.

"What's that?" Kankuro asked, peering over her shoulder. He saw the picture. "Isn't that a frog from Water Country? You'd think something that small would want to hide, not show off like that. It's bright yellow."

"It's poisonous." Temari said, pointing at the information on the opposite page, "The colouring is something called aposematic colouration."

"Apose-what?" the puppeteer asked.

"Says here it's bright to warn other things that it's poisonous. They're called Poison Arrow Frogs, and they've got enough poison in that tiny body to kill ten men." Temari read.

"Wouldn't want one of those in my bed." Kankuro commented, "Why're you looking it up, anyway?"

"Someone cracked a black market ring on the edge of Wind Country, and they found some of these guys in the shipment. Now I know why."

"Do Mist Ninjas use 'em?"

"Probably. Too good an opportunity to pass up."

Kankuro wandered away, leaving Temari to consider how dangerous Poison Arrow Frogs were.

"Temari, are you ok?" someone asked, coming into the room.

Temari turned and saw Naruto, shirtless after training in the heat, wiping sweat from his brow. His orange trousers were drenched and sticking to his skin, too.

"Just reading up on stuff." Temari replied, "Hey, you leave tomorrow, right? Mind if I come with you? The old lady might want to know about this black market ring we found."

Naruto shrugged and told her to clear it with Gaara before wandering away to wash up and put on some not-so-soaked-or-sandy clothes.

Temari turned back to the book and read over the information again, trying to make sense of the information. Bright colours to warn predators away…poison to kill those that tried to eat it or harm it…small but deadly…

She smiled as a certain orange-clad ninja came to mind.

Maybe aposematism wasn't just limited to frogs.

I was browsing Wikipedia, as I sometimes do, when I came across the article about Poison Arrow Frogs. Couldn't help myself. Naruto is dangerous, despite being so brightly coloured, and I guess he doesn't really need to hide sometimes. Any ninja who wears bright colours is basically saying "I'm here, and I don't need to hide because I can beat you."
