Part 1: Pre Reaping Events

Reaping day, I do not like the thought of someone that I know might be going to the Capitol to get slaughtered. But if I go, I might be safe since all mayor kids will be trained to participate in the games. So I know how to throw knifes and swing a sword, but I still do not want to be reaped. I'm dressed in a white dress and on it I have put my aunts mockingjay pin. It's a beautiful thing, but I know she had it when she was killed in the games.

Suddenly there is knock on the door, and to my amusement stands Katniss and Gale with a bucket of strawberries. I like Katniss and she is a good friend, but Gale I cannot stand!

"Would you like to buy some strawberries today Madge?" Katniss asks me.

"Yes, how much do you want for them?"

"We can make a deal at 60 coins." Katniss says.

"Deal!"

"By the way nice dress!" Gale says to me.

"If I ends up going to the Capitol, I do want to look nice. Doesn't you?"

"You will not be going to the Capitol, how many times is your name in. Let me guess 5? I had 5 the first year I was eligible!" he shout at me.

"So, it is not my problem to that your father died in the mine!" I say to him at the same time I pay Katniss.

Then I think he is going to jump on me and beat me to death, but he does not since the square is full of peacekeepers. But that is lucky for me, and when I close the door behind me I start to cry. I cannot understand why the reaping is so unfair. Katniss and Gale are their families only hope, and if they go to the capitol who will provide their families with food and money? I do not know anyone in 12 that is willing to provide their families!

The hour before the reaping I go my room and practice some piano and in the scenario that I will be reaped, I throw some knifes at the wall. Then I see that the clock is reaping time and I go and sign up.
