Needed You Most
Jack calmly but quickly turned the corner into the infirmary and glanced around.
Daniel peered out from behind a curtain and frowned; 'Where were you when I called?'
Jack closed the distance between them, 'You called?'
'Many times.'
'Walter told me, I flew straight here.' Jack said numbly.
'She's hurt Jack. You should have been here. She should be able to count on you to keep your goddamn phone on. It's bad enough that you're in another state but she relies on you Jack.'
'You finished?'
Daniel's face flushed red, 'Sorry.'
'Is she okay?'
Daniel pulled the curtain opened, allowing Jack to see her.
'Second degree burns to both hands, two fractures, pulled muscles in her left leg; black eye, lots of minor cuts and bruises.' Daniel stated.
Sam lay before them. She was sedated and her arms and legs were bandaged.
'Dr Lam says she's gonna be fine, as soon as the wounds heal. She's gonna need at least 2 months off work to rest. I hope she can count on you to be here for her.'
Jack eyed Daniel, 'When have I ever let her – anyone of you – down?'
Daniel nodded, 'Just keep in contact with us Jack.'
