A.N: Plot of this one shot was long forgotten and saved somewhere in my computer, however I couldn't help myself to edit it after Israel's brutal attack. Mavi Marmara's residents returned to Istanbul today, but nine of them will never see the sea again, because they died in it. The youngest one was only nineteen, a high school senior.
Disclaimer: I own nothing but my aching heart. May their souls rest in peace.
Never Same Again
It was supposed to be a normal day, a chasing weevils, running and screaming normal day. However it wasn't. The whole world was upside down and yet nobody except them seemed to know it. A whole building had died, all worked for Torchwood, all because of a one silly mistake.
It was supposed to be normal day, with Jack talking non-stop, Owen sleeping because he had a terrible hang-over, Suzie just wandering around with a metal glow in her hands.
But Jack wasn't talking, he wasn't making jokes, he was just sitting there, without moving, without blinking, without breathing. Owen was pretty much sober yet he looked worse than ever and Suzie was working really, really hard.
So Toshiko Sato didn't know what to do. Yesterday was a hell. Complete utter hell. With Daleks and Cybermen invading the Earth, they were helpless, Jack refused to let them go into the building, they had to help to the people out there. He had said that 'he' would be there. 'He' would save them. She had no idea who 'he ' was.
Torchwood 1 was now gone. With the ending sign of the battle of Canary Wharf, with 'his' victory, they were the only Torchwood left. All records were deleted and even she couldn't recover them, Jack had ordered her strictly not to. And she was committed to him until the end.
At the moment their leader as she saw wasn't doing anything, she understood his pain but it had been 6 hours since the first day light. since she found him like that. She was the first one came, she had found Jack looking at her computer with a blank expression.
When he saw her looking, he just walked away.
Rose Tyler. There was written. Right under Jacqueline Tyler. Two words pretty much meant everything to Captain Jack Harkness.
Died at the battle of Canary Wharf, may rest in peace.
''Jack.'' She whispered slowly. ''It wasn't your fault.''
Jack looked to the Japanese girl at the door. She obviously had seen what he was reading. He wasn't sure if he could hold it in anymore, a silent tear fall freely from his left cheek.
''She was so young.'' he whispered. Tosh silently walked to him, taking his hand into hers. She was so kind, so much kinder than he ever deserved. Times like this Jack really did know Toshiko was the right choice. ''Twenty one at most.''
Jack seemed to be lost in past, so Tosh let him remember, without interrupting, she just hold his hand tight and it was enough for Jack.
''They left me. At year 200 100, I was the only one alive on that god damned satellite. ''
He was sobbing now..
''I was the only was she left alive.''
What ? thought Tosh silently. Left alive ?
''She was my best friend Tosh, my first best friend. I was once inlove with her. That girl, hanging from a barrage balloon at World War 2 with a British flag on her chest. She was like a goddess. My Bad Wolf.''
For a moment Tosh thought she saw his eyes flashing, golden.
''And now, she is dead.''
Somehow Jack was never same after that day, that golden glamour was to be seen in unexpected moments, on the mirrors, just deep inside his ice blue eyes. But Jack had already got the message. Rose Tyler was dead and Bad Wolf was the only one left.
