Observant
Ever since she was a little girl, Cat Valentine was always a tad more observant and knowing of her surroundings more then others her age. Because her bubbly ditzy personality led people to believe she never paid attention to anything, which she actually preferred for reasons that will be established shortly, everyone spoke freely around her, saying things they wouldn't normally to the public. And because of that, she knew more then she should.
She knew the real reason Beck slept in an RV in his parents driveway.
She knew why Andre lived with his grandmother.
And she knew about Jade and Tori's impending affair. (Which she thought was so obvious and was bewildered that no one picked up on it yet.)
Now she personally thought the last one was her proudest discovery. She knew from the first week Tori came to Hollywood Arts of their feelings for one another. (Come on - how obvious could they get? Not even Beck was willing to help Jade with her play, yet Tori was?)
And those feelings led to them kissing after leaving the Blackbox. She knew Tori was going to be cleaning up after Sinjin's play, punishment for hitting Jade in the eye with a cane, and wanted to help. On her way into the school, she caught the two pushed up against Jade's car aggressively making out. Both didn't see her but she knew things had changed after that.
She paid close attention to the two after that night. She saw the looks, the longing stares and the not so subtle peeks at each other's assets when they thought no one was looking. (Jade was a lot more subtle then Tori).
And if that didn't prove anything, there were countless moments where they spoke without caring she was there. A lot of the time they thought she was asleep, but she wasn't. Countless sleepovers where they would disappear when she fell asleep. She kept silent about the entire thing, though. She didn't approve of it - not because of anything but the fact that Jade was cheating on Beck with Tori.
Oh and she also knew Tori wanted way, way more then just late night booty calls and janitor closet romps in the middle of the school day. (Which were a lot, considering how many times they'd both disappear at the same time.)
(Yes - Cat kept count of them.)
When Beck and Jade kept text fighting, she knew the reason. Beck had found out about the little affair she was having with Tori and was not happy about it. How did she know this? Well Jade left her phone next to her and left to use the bathroom, and Cat very innocently took a peek at her phone when it buzzed with a new text. Besides all she saw were four words. Yet those four words were all she needed to know what the fight was about.
Beckett: Do you love her?
Cat already knew the answer; yes. Jade did love Tori. She didn't have to say it out loud, yet she had, for Cat to know that. Just the way she looked at her made it clear she did. Yet a week later she and Beck were fine. She assumed Jade lied and said she and Tori were over and Beck simply believed her. Because she knew they weren't. Because two weeks after the text fight, she caught them (she used the term 'caught' very loosely) making out, (or possibly more because she shut the door as soon as she saw them) in the janitors closet during lunch.
And then again when they were stuck in detention on Saturday. Just a week before Beck and Jade's break up. She was positive that was the reason they broke up, not because Beck 'wasn't happy with their relationship'.
And another thing.
She knew Jade was pregnant before anyone else.
So let people think she was just a ditzy teenager. Let them speak freely around her.
She loved knowing their secrets.
