Where Butterflies Never Die
Chapter 1
Shadowblade sat at the edge of the cliff right outside the autobot base, her black armor shining in the bright sunlight. She looked over at the graves, each one a little different. Cliffjumper and Starscream, the only two that have been lost. Cliffjumpers' was covered in larger rocks, Starscreams' was covered in the same, but in between a small blue glimmer can be seen. Shadowblade placed the small blue heart her mate had made her on Cybertron right in the center, so when hit it would glimmer softly in the sunlight when hit. She smiled as the small light glimmered, remembering how long he worked to carve the energon box into a heart. Her smile faded at the thought of his voice that she would no longer hear, or get to feel safe in his arms. She would miss it. Her spark ached in her chest and she felt tears start to form but her train of thought broke when a blazing blue and gold butterfly flew up to her. She immediately knew it wasn't a human one. It was too large to be a human one if she could see it. She held out her servo and it tenderly landed on it. She stared at it and smiled.
"You're a pretty butterfly." She coed to it.
It fluttered its wings a few times as if saying "Thanks". She let out a soft chuckle. It was so beautiful, and it reminded her of something, but she couldn't lay her claw on it. As gently as she could, with the back of her claw on her other servo, she petted it. It fluttered its wings a few times in enjoyment. She stopped and it fluttered its wings and lifted itself up into the air to meet her optics. She smiled. It circled around her helm once before it made its way into the canyon beyond. She watched it happily. It was such a beautiful butterfly. She turned and walk towards the base, smiling as she thought of the butterfly.
Miko was practicing her guitar skills, Rafael was talking to Bumblebee about their weekends, Ratchet was repairing Bloodstain and Smokescreen, Wheeljack and Arcee were in the corner of the room talking a little, Jessica was on the couch reading her book with Jack sitting next to her, Optimus Prime was doing a usual search for relics and energon.
When Shadowblade walked into the base she was greeted by her son, who jumped up off the medical table and hugged her. She smiled and looked up at her son. She brushed her servo over a small cut above his optic. He winced slightly.
"You have got to be more careful." She said with a small laugh. He gave her a smirk.
"I thought you always said do your best." He said.
She pecked his cheek.
"Yes, but be careful doing it."
"Bloodstain, your wounds aren't fully healed and some aren't even repaired yet, get back over here!" They heard Ratchet call.
"Who woke up on the wrong side of the berth today, cranky?" He said teasingly.
Ratchet gave him a cold glare.
"All right! I got it! Just don't give me that look."
He walked back over and sat on the edge of the medical berth next to Smokescreen. He gave his friend a small smile and the two laughed and talked on like nothing ever happened.
She walked on and looked down at the human that liked to read and the one sitting next to her.
"So, how's the book?" Shadowblade asked.
Jessica folded the corner of the book and put it down on the coffee table in front of her. She turned around and looked up at her guardian and smiled.
"It's really good," She explained, calm with a smile, "I'm on book three, it's pretty intense."
She was really interested in this book. Shadowblade smiled. She had never seen Jessica this happy in a long time. Optimus glanced over his shoulder and small smile crept over his faceplates.
"I see you have returned." He said, looking back at the screens.
She walked over next to him, looking at the screen with him. Jessica picked back up her book and unfolded the corner and continued her reading.
"Yes, I have returned. Anything new I missed while I was gone?" She asked, looking at the constantly moving tracker.
Optimus shook his head.
"No, nothing has come up for a while now. No decepticons, relics, or even energon readings. It's become, dare I say it, boring." He said the last sentence softly, making sure only she heard it.
He grinned slightly at his remark. Shadowblade noticed.
"You like the adventurous life of fighting?" She joked softly, trying to keep it quiet like him.
He opened his mouth when Flamewing interrupted him.
"Hey, I'm back." He said with a happy smile.
Shadowblade smiled and hugged her son. He hugged her back tightly.
"Nothing is close to us nor are interested in checking. We're good for today." He said, aiming his sentence to Optimus.
Optimus nodded, hearing the statement.
"You'll go out maybe an hour later or so, or before we shut it down for recharge." He ordered.
Flamewing nodded in response. Shadowblade noticed Jack move next to Jessica. She noticed out of the corner of her eye and turned. He blushed and turned his focus away to Arcee, who was now talking to Bulkhead. Miko had put away her guitar and sat next to Jessica and Raf sat next to Jack. Miko joked and poked Jessica. She grinned and poked Miko back. She noticed her guardian looking at her.
"You want to know what I'm reading and have been reading?" She asked, trying to break the awkward silence.
Her guardian smiled and turned and walked over, getting on her knees to meet face to face with her. Flamewing stood besides her, interested in what there was to hear, as well as the other guardians and Wheeljack. Optimus, Ratchet, as well as Smokescreen and Bloodstain listened to what she had to say, since this was the most interesting news since this morning. Jessica cleared her throat, not used to having the whole base focusing on her.
"Basically, this girl, Stacy, lives in a small town. Her mother is dead and her father is barely home. She is an outcast, even when she tries not to be. She feels like her uncle is he only one who understands her. Until she meets this boy, Felix. He's like her, broken and an outcast. So, the two become friends and they grow up together. They get married and live life together, until a revolution breaks out, which her father started. That's book one. In book two, she stays with her lovers side, obeys her father, but during one of the battles, she meets her uncle, who leads the other team, and the two end up getting thrown into an alternate dimension, where her uncle is actually the evil one. Well, she ends up..pregnant and she keeps the child. She meets the other side after escaping the base and her and her uncle raise it until their allies find a way to send them back. Of course, it happens and things kinda go back to normal. She has to explain why her child looks so familiar and they don't believe her till she's tested and so on." She stopped to take a deep breath. "In the end of book two, her country is destroyed and they have to move to somewhere else. I'm on book three. Basically, she left to join her uncle and left her husband and father behind. She meets with him secretly and she ends up pregnant again. and now he's almost and adult. But suddenly her husband dies and she witnessed it. I made it to the part where she visits his grave and sees a butterfly. It's a blue and gold one. I might draw it later. I'm debating." She sighed deeply and laughed. "I'm done."
"That's really intense." Bloodstain said.
Shadowblade smiled and stood up. Her son yawned and stretched out.
"It's very interesting." She said, but something was eating her about the story.
It sounded, like her life. Megatron wasn't around much, Optimus was the closest thing to a friend till Starscream. Bloodstain and Flamewing. Even to the butterfly she had just seen today. She shook her helm of the thoughts as a pain shot through her chest. She gritted her denta against the pain and took a deep breath. She almost forgot they were still forming. She nodded to Optimus, who nodded in response to let her rest so she could allow them to form. She walked down the long hallway to her room and entered, letting the door slide shut behind her. She crawled into her side of her berth, leaving Starscreams' space empty. She would for right now, it was too hard to move it. She felt the pain begin to fade as she started to relax under the covers. She slowly faded into sleep, thinking of her mate sleeping next to her.
It has been 94 years! jk, but 3 years is a long time. I am remaking this while story. My original is pretty bad, but if you want to check it out, it's Where Butterflies Never Die. Jessica, Bloodstain, and Shadowblade belong to me, everyone else belongs to Hasbro. (because if they belonged to me, I wouldn't be writing this.) R&R Please!
