Author's Note: My first short story, so be kind. Always was more of a reader, unfortunately am required to post stories in order to be a Beta Reader and thus I have to unleash my horrible writing unto you all. Apologies in advance.

A man who was happy being with another man. Was it really such a major thing to be all up in arms about? As far as I was concerned, the strangers who gave us judging looks all the time were to be pitied. To have such unfulfilled lives of their own that they felt the need to go around being affronted at other people's private activities was unthinkable. Who were they to judge something they had no complete or even basic understanding of?

Maybe they were jealous, jealous that we were secure enough in our relationship not to care about other people's opinions. In which case, they probably had to mask the feeling by piling on the disgust instead. Even so, I would expect adults to be able to control their emotions enough to keep it to themselves. Apparently I think too well of the people that make up this old-fashioned society, as per usual.

When I think about what I expected to make me happy in terms of a long term relationship when I was young, it certainly wasn't this. However, I would have to say that it has exceeded all my expectations and continues to do so and I could never see myself letting him go.

Distracted by a head of silver bobbing over the crowds in the alley, the dark-haired young man allowed himself to break free from the thoughts which had been weighing on his mind for the past few months. With a small smile and a fond glance, he patiently waited for the man he had been waiting for to approach before leaving his seat to greet him.

Sharing a long hug, which had already become a tradition after long separations due to working trips, he noticed that despite the weariness that emanated from every line in his partner's body, his eyes had lit up the moment they had met his own. A small thing that never failed to kindle a warm feeling deep inside.

Reacquainting himself with everything that his partner was, "Welcome back", he said, and it was enough.
