It is those moments in which we are most unsure of ourselves that we find it is easiest to read others.

She had seen the unbridled emotions in his gaze as he pushed her away, clearly wanting some sort of clarification of what it meant. Confusion, affection, love, and maybe a bit of heady lust swam around in Beastboy's eyes as he stared at her. She was about to respond to his silent question when Cyborg had unintentionally intervened.

Now, Raven stood at Beastboy's doorway, the night silent as the others slept easily despite the day's events. She had been staring at her ceiling for the past few hours thinking about what that hug truly meant whilst Malchior called to her persuasively from the chest he was now locked in. Beastboy made her feel, a feat that most could never even hope to accomplish. What he made her feel, exactly, was a different and thought-provoking matter.

Happiness, timidity, hope, and a long list of others, with affection and love hanging at the end, refusing to be ignored.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

She rapped on his door softly, half-heartedly hoping the changeling would not hear her, even with the knowledge that leaving this matter unresolved would inevitably come to bite her later. There was, however, the usual pneumatic hiss, accompanied by a small swish of air, and then he was standing in front of her, rubbing his eyes softly and hair mussed up in a way she could only describe as terribly adorable.

He straightened up immediately upon noticing exactly who it was standing in his doorway, eyes immediately darting to stare into her own. She looked back, beginning to blush from his intense gaze. She began before he even had the chance to speak.

"I really do like you." she began, shutting out whatever the changeling was about to say. "I know I act like I don't care, but I really do... in fact, I'd wager that your opinion carries more weight than the Robin, Cyborg, and Starfire combined."

His eyes were wide and he looked awake now. She could see the hint of red in his cheeks and knew her own were absolutely scarlet with her own blush at the moment.

"Malchior, he... He made me feel like I belonged. I know now that I was stupid for not realizing that you had been trying thhe whole time." She gathered up her courage to finish, clenching her pale fists under he cloak.

"And then... You said I wasn't alone. I can't even describe how that made me feel, but... at least I know how I feel now."

She kissed him then; quickly pressing her lips to his own before he had a chance to ruin the moment with words. Her arms hung lossely around his neck, gently tugging him into a better angle for her to reach him. Beastboy himself was too shocked to move, eyes wide at her actions, taking in the full view of her loosely shut eyelids and soft, peaceful expression.

"I love you." she breathed as she separated from him. Beastboy didn't say anything in return, instead opting to swoop down and steal another kiss from the dark beauty, this time pulling her flush against him. His hands rested lightly on her waist, and she resumed her hold around his neck.

"I love you too, Rae."

Once again I suck at endings, and I couldn't find a proper way to wrap this up. Not much of an author's note because I'm in Eagles Connect (Study Hall) and everyone's looking at me weird because I'm smiling like a jackass right now and I usually look depressed as hell in school.

To anyone at FHS who would ever happen to read this: Do not attempt to find out who I am. You'll make me blush, and I do not wish for that to happen.

Evidently, I am too lazy to find out if anyone said that quote before me, but I came up with it on my own.
