I was walking to my room after a long day at school, it wasn't that bad... just had to see Eli everywhere I looked. Sometimes he wouldn't be looking, others he would already be staring. Breakups are never easy... especially with Eli and I. I was just about to take a long hot bath to calm my nerves when my doorbell rang, I was hoping my mom would answer but I remembered her and Glen had left to spend the weekend together at the cabin. Jake was with Katie. So I went to answer it and was ambushed by Ali and Jenna, Ali holding make up and Jenna holding a strapless purple dress and heels.

"What are you too doing here?" I asked annoyed.

"Obviously we're here to bust you out of that down in the dumps feeling you've been in." Ali answered... Jenna agreed.

"Yeah, you're really no fun when you're depressed."

"Oh well I'm sorry. But when a guy rips out you're heart, throws it on the ground, and stomps on it a little bit... it's kinda hard to be happy." (1) I said and fell back on the couch, nearly to tears.

"We know. We've been there. You have to remember that you're not the first person to get your heart broken."

"I know that Ali! It's just... hard."

"Well it won't be hard for long. We brought you someone. Go get changed."

"No. Jenna I don't want to go to prom."

"Too bad. Now go."

I stomped upstairs with Ali following with the make up and outfit in hands.

"Do I really have to do this Ali?"

"Yes, now sit down and shut up. Let me do my magic."

So I did. No real reason to fight, I would lose anyways. So with a final eye roll I sat down and let Ali work.

I came down the stairs two hours later with the out fit on and my hair curled to perfection. I don't know why they're making me go to prom but I guess I'll live. I tried to convince them that nothing good ever comes from me going to a dance... but they were convinced this time was different. Yeah right.

"Oh my God, Clare!"

"Yeah I agree with Jenna. You look amazing. I did good if I do say so myself."

"Oh hush Ali, she looked good before."

"I know, but.."

"You know I'm right here... right?"

They shut up after that, Ali walked out to her car, I still cant believe her parents bought her a new one, and we left for prom. As soon as we got there I wanted to leave, but they knew that and had me blocked. Guess I'm not making a prison break yet. Two hours later I was on the dance floor, surprisingly, having fun when Eli came up to me.

"Hey."

"Uh.. hey."

"How are you?"

"Really Eli? I know you didn't just come over here to make small talk."

He sighed and ran his hand through his hair and grabbed my hand, prom was held in a motel this year so he took me to a room, he pulled out a room key and let us in.

"You got a room?"

"Thought I might need it."

I was going to ask why, but I was scared. I didn't really want to know what Eli planned to do in this room, or who he planned to do it with. We talked for a little while and I started thinking about how it was the end of the year, and this was our last day together... I started crying.

"Hey.. Hey.. What's wrong Clare?"

"This is our last night together."

"Then lets not waste it."

We stared into each others eyes for a minute and he started to lean in... we kissed and we didn't stop. We ended up making love that night... and I can honestly say.. It was perfect. I loved it in every way possible... It was the best night of my life.
