The General's Speech
Servicemen of EUFOR North America:
You are about to embark upon the great crusade to liberate the last piece of contested American soil. This final battle, towards which we have striven these many months, is being watched by all the world. You have been called upon to free Alaska, the largest of all the American states, from Russian occupation. Only when this is done can the United States truly be made whole again.
You must liberate the State of Alaska from Russian occupation county by county, city by city, and mile by mile. With Deutschland, Italia, Österreich, España, Éire, France, and the United Kingdom providing their might in armour, infantry and artillery on the ground, acting as our shield and sword in the air, the Russians face the combined might of a united Europe. An entire continent at peace, unwavering in its commitment to restoring the United States of America to its rightful place among the nations.
The forces of the European Union are hours from striking a blow for freedom that will live in history, and in the better times ahead men will speak with pride of our doings. We have a just and righteous cause.
Good luck to each and every one of you, and good hunting on the battlefields of Alaska.
-Commander, EUFOR North America
Notes:
I got the basic idea for this speech from General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower's speech to the men of the Allied Expeditionary Force just before the beginning of Operation Overlord with the D-Day invasion of France. It also draws slightly on Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery's address to his army before D-Day.
