Kanoi: I may finally make a deadline! I'm so happy!

Sasuke: I bet the challenge ends tomorrow before you post it in the community.

Kanoi: You're so mean! –cries-

Naruto: Way to go, Teme! –glares at Sasuke-

Sasuke: -shrugs- Like I care.

Kanoi: Sasuke! Don't make me starting writing fanfics about your death again! I'll do it!

Sasuke: -turns white- Sorry.

Kanoi: So anyway, the challenge was to write about a minor character, and I just KNEW I had to write about the Hyuuga sisters. I really enjoyed writing this, and there was so much more I wish I could have done with it. Unfortunately, I had to keep it short so I could still enter it in the challenge. I hope you guys like it.

Sasuke: Disclaimer: Kanoi doesn't own Naruto, thankfully Kishimoto does. That means she can't actually kill me!

Kanoi: Well, what if Kishi is like me and likes to torture his favorite characters?

Sasuke: Shut up!

Naruto: -rolls around on the floor laughing-

When her father died and Hinata had taken the position of Hyuuga Head, Hanabi had mixed feelings. She knew very well that Hinata was just what the Hyuuga clan needed. At the same time, though, Hanabi was jealous. She had been sure she was going to be awarded the position. In the following months, Hanabi should have received the seal that would mark her as part of the Branch Family. She never did; her sister had not allowed it. Hanabi saw the way the elders acted towards Hinata after that. Even still, Hanabi acted ungrateful. Her sister was a fool to go against the traditions. Hanabi had been the greater fool.

When the Main Family and the Branch Family were brought together through Hinata's marriage to Neji, Hanabi had felt revulsion. The elder's respected Hinata even less afterwards, and Hanabi did the same. If Hanabi had been the clan head she would have never done something so stupid. Her sister was weak! Hanabi was weaker.

Now, several years had passed since the wedding, and Hanabi had trouble remembering the last time she had spoken to her sister. She would have never even known Hinata was pregnant if she had not been visited by one of the elders. He had asked Hanabi is she had wanted to take Hinata's place as Clan Head or leave the position to Neji when Hinata passed. Hyuuga women never survived giving birth. She asked to be given time to think about it.

It was a breezy day when Hanabi made her way to the home of her sister, her leader. She found Hinata sitting on the porch with a cup of tea; her eyes were drawn to the bump of Hinata's belly. Still, Hinata looked happy; so, why then, did Hanabi feel so scared?

Hanabi swallowed her guilt and her pride before approaching her sister. Before she even opened her mouth to say "hello," Hinata had turned and smiled at her. Hanabi felt like crying. She had been awful, and now here she was about to talk to Hinata about taking her place as leader. Still, Hinata smiled and welcomed her. In that moment, Hanabi realized just how strong her sister was.

Hanabi hoped that one day, she could grow stronger.

Kanoi: God, I love me some Hyuuga family dynamics! Just had to add that at the end.
