Pokemon: Champion Sedna

The Kuiper Chamber...

Several stories up above him would be the place where he would finally be able to face off against the woman that he was looking to battle for so long. His entire adventure in the Kalos region was at an end and even though he didn't beat the tournament finale, Ash Ketchum was hungry for an unofficial battle against the Champion...

Sedna.

Very few people ever saw her as she did her very best to avoid leaving the Kuiper Chamber unless the situation demanded it. Her loyalty was with her Pokemon and if that meant staying several thousands of feet above the common ground, she was perfectly fine with that. Now, Ash was here to challenge her to a battle whether she was ready to battle or not. He left his friends behind for this opportunity to challenge and hopefully beat the Kalos League Champion, Sedna. But he still had a long ways to go before reaching her chamber. Several floors were in place before he could even think about making it all the way up to the challenge he so desired.

The drive to get to Nebula Mountain was quite strong with Ash. A small boat which only comes for trainers that are hoping to get a chance to battle with the strongest trainer in Kalos one a week was needed to reach the island that only housed a large mountain. Most likely a volcanic island although he couldn't be sure from his position.

He had no idea what was waiting for him at the very top of this mountain... if, he made it there.

"Are you ready, Pikachu? We finally get to challenge Sedna!" Ash chirped, looking over at the best friend he had sitting on his shoulder. Pikachu shared the very same sweaty determination that Ash did, giving back a balled fist in gritted fuel.

"Pika-Pika!" Pikachu agreed, clenching on tight to his trainers shoulder as Ash took off into the cave, not looking back for a second.

For Sedna, it was quiet. Only the sound of water dripping through the cave made noise followed by various distant pokemon cries due to the large amount of cave pokemon that find housing inside her large cave. It was like it's own variation of Victory Road - plenty of pokemon although with the lack of trainers. The reason for this is because Sedna wants trainers to arrive at her island ready to battle HER, not a dozen ace trainers scattered throughout different tunnels and routes. It was made the way she would've wanted her own Victory Road.

Various holes in the rocks allowed for breezes to reach inside the cave for proper air conditioning as well as nice views of the sky on clear nights. It was definitely dark outside, the moon was a bright crescent lingering in the sky with several bright stars being the only stars that survived the blinding light of the moon - reflecting lots of the light it recieved from the sun. A nice breeze squeezed in through the rocks in the cave and even brushed up against Sedna, whos dark iron red hair fluttered gently with the wind, moving over her face slightly.

At her side, was a Mawile. It was her, Mawile. From the beginning of her adventure following her finale in the Sinnoh League, losing to Cynthia in the League, Sedna then traveled to the Kalos Region to further develop her skills as a trainer.

After she collected all eight badges from the Kalos Gym Challenge, she took on the Kalos League and defeated all of her opponents fairly. While nearly losing to Diantha, Sedna claimed her rightful place as the Champion of Kalos and stopped the threat of Team Nebula in Sinnoh when she returned back home. Deciding againstclaiming the Sinnoh League as her own in an attempt to rematch against Cynthia, Sedna returned back to Kalos and named a remote Island after the Team Nebula she worked so hard to destroy - as a way of immortalizing the steps she has overcome while standing triumphant of the stones she has climbed over. All of this, brought herself and Mawile close together. Getting her own Key Stone as well as Mawilite before her 8th Gym Battle in the Kalos Region, they easily continued on their path of connection. Now, Mawile remains the strongest Pokemon on Sedna's Team.

For Ash Ketchum, he just wasn't ready for the surprises that this teenage Champion had for him. Not in the slightest. Even as he appeared, after climbing the one hundred stairs that lead up to her chamber...

Kuiper Chamber, some six thousand feet above the surface of the planet.

Six seperate lights clicked on as soon as he reached the top of the stairs, gasping for breath due to the long haul upwards for such a repeated action. Each light came on one after the other, illuminating a path to the area that Sedna was standing at. However, due to the glare and illumination of the area he was in, he was unable to see Sedna standing deeper in the chamber. Cautiously, he continued forward. Pikachu also looked rather puzzled to begin with.

One foot after the next... over, and over... Until he reached the dark outline of the stadium, which he recognized quickly due to his mass amount of battles in his life taking place ON a stadium. It was then, that he noticed a red eye on a plateau only a few meters away from him. Upon discovery, several lights flickered on above him, illuminating the surrounding area...

Including the sixteen year old Sedna, with her body facing Ash eerily. There was something about this woman... She seemed to be missing so much energy in her body and her demeanor seemed so simplified. Still, he knew what he came here for even while staring oddly at the woman ahead of him. The Champion of Kalos...

THEE Champion whom he had never seen before in his life.

"Welcome." Sedna spoke softly, her voice hardly picking up in his ears as he showed a grin. Ash was now more amped than ever. The Champion acknowledged his existence and didn't turn him away yet. "You are...?"

Ash adjusted his hat and placed a hand on Pikachu's back, staring up at the woman Champion, several meters away and a few feet higher than he was due to the plateau she was standing on. It had stairs, though, so she could easily walk to and from.

"I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town! I came here to... challenge you to a battle!"

Ash exclaimed. For some reason, her presence just sucked the energy out of his words even while he KNEW this is exactly what he wanted. He worked so hard for this oppurtunity and there was no way it was going to waste just because of some silly nervousness.

Sedna grinned, and even giggled a little bit while covering her mouth with the back of her right hand. The giggling lasted a few solid seconds before she stopped and crossed one of her feet behind the other and made a curteous bow.

"Very well... I am Sedna, the Kalos League Champion. I have heard quite a large amount of stories of your bravery and courage, Ash Ketchum. Are you here to battle me?" Sedna said softly before closing her eyes. "Or to show me what you have faced along your journeys?"

Ash didn't know what to do - feel awkward by her already knowing who he was without him telling her a word... Or, to follow her vibe and give the woman the exact battle she was looking for. Pikachu gave him a supporting nod, signifying that regardless of how ready Ash was, Pikachu was up for the challenge.

"I came to test how far I've come... while winning a battle against you!" Ash chirped, refusing to let his movement be smashed by the Champion who seemed so distant and cold. He was delighted to see her look up at him, her eyes a dark red. Ash had seen a red eye when the lights weren't on, but they weren't as dark as Sednas.

The Mawile standing at her side must have been the cause of this. It looked very mellow, but also observant, not letting a single movement of his or Pikachu go unnoticed by her. Also, Ash took notice of the Mawilite worn as a necklace around Mawile, meaning that this Mawile could mega-evolve. That wasn't a surprise at all seeing as she was the strongest trainer in Kalos.

"Hmph. Then we shall have a battle, Ash Ketchum. I hope you've come prepared for an unoffical battle." Sedna responded, looking at him for detections of doubt or any emotion of fear or worry. To her surprise, he smiled back at her and nodded.

"Of course. I made sure my team was prepared for anything ANY trainer can throw at me. I may not be crowned the Champion after this. But, my team and I will win for sure!" Ash responded, taking his place on the other side of the stadium, furthest away from the opposite side, where Sedna would be positioning herself once the battle began.

Following his attidude, Sedna ushered her Mawile to follow her as she stepped towards the stadium. Ash caught a glimpse of her outside - a black pea-coat that nearly covered her white skirt and blight tights. To tie it all off, she wore white winter boots with black laces through each slit. She was more or less dressed for the occasion.

Once they stood, facing each other, Sedna grabbed a pokeball from her hip and enlargened it by pressing the button on the very opposite side of the pokeball.

"I'll send out my pokemon first. You can choose which pokemon you wish to send out in response. Understood?" Sedna said quietly, Ash nodding in agreement. It wasn't known if Ash was agreeing because he was actually listening or if he was just rushing the beginning of this battle. "Go, Glaceon."

In a quick motion, Sedna threw out her first pokeball which exploded to reveal the Ice-Type evolution of Eevee.

"A Glaceon, eh? Then we'll just use this! Go, Infernape!" Ash exclaimed in

response, tossing out his very own counteraction against the Champion. Having two types that are super-effective against the Glaceon, Ash was sure this would be his pathway to battle.

"Let's begin." Sedna replied, a smile on her face while most of it was hidden from the breeze through the rocks.

Ash's Infernape stood before him, a strong determination to win the first battle of this face off. Ash had taken the choice of gathering the team of six that he knew would best defeat any opponent and this was only the beginning of a promising battle for Ash Ketchum.

"Mach Punch!" Ash exclaimed as he demonstrated a punching action of his own, casting outwards in an almost syncronised action similar to Infernape. With that,

Infernape leaped away from the ground and shot in the direction of Glaceon with incredible strength and speed. Even as he encroached on the ice typed Eevee evolution, Sedna couldn't deny the passion this boy must be feeling for both battling and for his pokemon.

Unfortunately for Ash, however, Sedna wasn't going to just let him attack. She had a counteract of her own which would likely surprise Ash and his friends... if they were here.

"Dodge." Sedna spoke softly. There was something about her collected attitude.

Even while Infernape was scorching hot with fire, a clear advantage against her very own pokemon, Sedna seemed just as relaxed as she was standing on her plateau.

Something wasn't adding up here. Still, Glaceon hopped up into the air and flew over Infernape, landing right behind him. From there, it was only going downhill.

"Aqua Tail."

Ash watched in horror as the Glaceon moved faster than he could order his Infernape to get out of the way. Rightfully so, Glaceon's tail surrounded itself with pure water, using the momentum from the landing of its own dodge to spin and smack into the back of Infernape, launching him forward onto his hands and knees.

"Agh! Infernape!" Ash cried out, balling his right fist hard. "Can you go on!?"

Infernape sent back a nod, still recoiling from the direct hit from a super-effective water attack. If too many more of those impacts made true, than Infernape wasn't long for this world.

"Great! Use Flare Blitz!" Ash directed, seeing a bright blue flame engulf the Infernape like an orb. Directly following this, Infernape jumped backwards and rotated its body to pick up momentum. There, Infernape began freefalling towards the Glaceon that stared up. Not at Infernape, however...

At Sedna.

"Blizzard." Sedna spoke, hardly audible through Infernape's battle cry. Just as commanded, the Glaceon closed its eyes and focused its power to create large snowballs and ice chunks that rained down from the ceiling. They hit their mark on Infernape which lowered the temperature of the Flare Blitz, but didn't fully cancel it out. The momentum only built up further and Infernape crashed into Glaceon with its full weight behind the Flare Blitz. A large puff of smoke and dust covered the view from Glaceon and Infernape like a thick blanket. Neither trainer knew what happened to their pokemon.

As it finally cleared up, Infernape stood triumphant although heavy damage was taken from a super effective water move and by a not-so effective Blizzard. Glaceon stood briefly, facing Infernape with a cold stare...

... Until gravity took the rest and Glaceon collapsed onto her side.

"Hmph." Sedna hummed as she held out her pokeball and recalled the Ice pokemon, now defeated by Infernape. However, he was injured so another attack from likely any of her other pokemon could turn the tides back into her favor. She wasn't worried one bit. "Well done, Glaceon." In a quick motion, Sedna placed the

pokeball back and snatched another one from her side and tossed it outwards, without calling the name of her pokemon at all. In a bright flash of light followed by the sounds of a pokemon bursting out of the pokeball, Sedna's second pokemon stood face to face with Infernape.

... And Ash raised an eyebrow.

"An Emolga? I never wouldn't expected a Champion to have one of these..." Ash muttered, clearly his ego from winning the first round with Infernape rushing to his head.

"Yes, an Emolga." Sedna said back softly, her words like ice running down his back.

"Alright, Infernape! Emolga is a flying type so we just have to move fast! Mach Punch, again!" Ash directed his fire monkey, seeing it leap into the air and dash over to the Emolga that was sitting so patiently and cute-like on the stone floor below. Emolga actually showed hardly any sign of movement unti Infernape was nearly there.

"Acrobatics." Sedna ordered softly, watching nicely as her electric flying squirrel took off from the ground and looped so fast and so angled that it shouldn't have even been aware of its surroundings. In a flash of light, Emolga collided with Infernape's back and looped around his torso before slamming into his forehead, sending the fire monkey scattering across the ground towards Ash in a small cloud of dust.

Without a doubt, Infernape couldn't battle any longer and the score was now tied up.

"I'm sorry, Infernape. I underestimated our opponent and because of that... Just, get a good rest buddy." Ash said softly to the pokeball that now contained the Infernape. He was now tied up with the Champion which was amazing to him. It was a new fuel that Ash was going to use to the max. No matter what happened from here on out, Ash was determined... almost forced to win this. Losing wasn't an option even while five pokemon still remained. "You're up, Pikachu!"

Pikachu leaped away from Ash's shoulder out into the battlefield with grace. Ready to battle and defeat the Emolga that Sedna had out onto the battlefield. It was now or never and Ash and Pikachu weren't going to miss their shot for victory.

"Quick Attack, Pikachu!" Ash yelled out, pointing towards the Emolga which Pikachu picked as the target and bolted away from Ash at incredible speed. For some reason, Sedna wasn't ordering her Emolga to dodge or move away at all. Instead, Emolga sat down on the ground and took the hit completely. When Pikachu returned to Ash's side, it was paralyzed and jolted occasionally with electricity.

Now, it made sense. Emolga's ability is Static which has a chance of paralyzing a pokemon when the opponent makes contact with said pokemon. Emolga used this to its advantage and now, it was counter time.

"Discharge." Sedna ordered her Emolga, who leaped up into the air and curled into a ball and began illuminating the room with bright yellow and white light. In an instant, electricity crackled away from Emolga and hurtled towards Pikachu.

"Dodge that!" Ash directed his Pikachu, who used its tail to leap up off of the ground. "Thunderbolt, quick!" Following his trainer's order, Pikachu charged up a thunderbolt and released it on Emolga, making a direct hit and leaving a pretty effective mark on the electric rodent.

Upon landing, Pikachu recoiled backwards due to the zapping of the paralyzing move of Emolga. However, Emolga stood strong still.

"Acrobatics." Sedna mumbled, Emolga taking off at her words and bolting around in nearly random locations. Each movement drew it closer to Pikachu until it was only meters away.

"Iron Tail!" Ash ordered his Pikachu, watching as it leaped into the air and twirled twice, smacking the hard iron tail into Emolga's head, shooting it into the ground.

Still, Emolga wasn't going down yet and neither was Pikachu who eyed Emolga with intense battling spirit.

"I admire your pokemon's strength, Ash. However, you have to remember that battling head on only leaves you to what lies around you..." Sedna said to Ash, looking at Pikachu and cracking a half smile and snapping one of her fingers.

"Attract."

Still comprehending what Sedna had said, Ash watched as four hearts came out of a wink that Emolga performed towards the Pikachu, and danced around his starter pokemon. Around and around and around over and over again.

"Oh, no..." Ash muttered as the hearts hit Pikachu directly and entranced the poor rodent. Now, Pikachu was practically useless as its moves weren't promised to hit. But, it was too early to quit. "Electro Ball!"

Ash was surprised to see that Pikachu actually listened properly to Ash, charging up an orb of electricity at the tip of his tail. However, when it came time to launch the attack, it went wide and collided with the rocky walls of the chamber. Sedna's plan had worked.

"Finish this. Acrobatics." Sedna ordered her Emolga, watching as it dashed in random locations and increased speeds before slamming into Pikachu with full force.

In a hard impact, Pikachu was sent back in front of Ash, completely unconscious and no longer effected by the Attract.

Emolga had finished Infernape and Pikachu and likely STILL had fuel to continue battling. He had underestimated Sedna when he met here but now he was truly starting to understand just what he was lacking. He needed to believe in his pokemon instead of believing that they could fight a battle he wants to win. Sedna's words were now making complete sense to him. Still, he brought Pikachu to his side and set him down.

"You battled really well, buddy. We'll win this for you, trust me." Ash said quietly, rubbing in between the ears of Pikachu softly and turning back to face Sedna.

"Pika...Piii..." Pikachu agreed, turning her attention to what ever pokemon was going to come next.

"Alright..." Ash started, snatching the next pokeball from his belt and enlargening it with his index finger. "Heracross! I choose you!"

A bright flash of light illuminated the cave as the bug and fighting pokemon appeared before him, facing the Emolga who was now sitting on the ground, watching. Heracross cried out its war cry and flapped the wings on its back a few times before resting, waiting for the next order from Ash.

"I see. I believe you're aware of the disadvantage your bug type has against Emolga... Am I wrong?" Sedna said. Her statement didn't sound snobby or cranky at all but if someone read it, it would likely look hostile. It was a simple test to make sure Ash was aware of what he was doing. Seeing no emotion change from him, Sedna knew he was sure.

"You're not wrong! But I believe in my Pokemon and because of that, we'll show you everything we've got right here, and right now! Heracross, Megahorn!" Ash directed his bug type pokemon. Following orders, Heracross jumped up and the wings on its back began flapping away at incredible speeds. In a short duration of time, Heracross had reached Emolga.

"Discharge." Sedna muttered. She could feel the heat and energy coming from Ash and she didn't plan on supressing it. She wanted to feel more of it. Having gone on her own adventure, she wanted to learn about Ash and what HE had seen on his own. The picture was becoming more and more clear now. Regardless, Emolga leaped into the air and curled into a ball and discharged tons of electricity that connected with Heracross's body, but didn't halt his action. Instead, Heracross pushed forward and smashed its large horn into Emolga.

Landing back on their respected sides, Heracross and Emolga traded glares and stares, not looking to budge an inch. Emolga was now starting to look exhausted finally. It had strength left, but it wouldn't be able to carry on much longer and both of them knew this. So, Sedna capitalized on her chance to push through this moment.

"Acrobatics!" Sedna exclaimed, the energy in her voice due to the increased pressure she was feeling from Ash. She hadn't felt so alive in a battle ever before.

Ash was really pushing her limits of not only her but her pokemon as well.

Ash, deep into the zone with his pokemon, didn't pay much mind to Sedna and instead looked around at anything to use as a weapon or anything to assist him.

Emolga was approaching Heracross now at high speeds and left him hardly any time to make a move. That is, until he saw the chance to turn the tides.

Several feet away was a handing rock from the ceiling almost in the shape of an ice cicle.

"Heracross, crash into that rock and send the fragments back at Emolga!" Ash directed his Heracross, watching as it hovered away from the ground with its tiny wings. Emolga didn't pursuit and instead watched as Heracross slashed the rock into tiny fragments and used Megahorn to send the rocks tumbling down at Emolga who was standing on the ground.

"Discharge." Sedna responded, watching Emolga curl into a ball and eject large amounts of electricity in response to the rocks, the electricity flying between rocks and sometimes colliding with them. As the rocks collided with Emolga and the electricity jolted Heracross, an explosion was caused and once again dust and smoke covered both pokemon.

When it cleared, both electric and bug pokemon were unable to continue battling any further. A double K.O. that surprised the both of them. So, Ash called back his Heracross and Sedna called back her Emolga with a smile on her face.

"Well done, Heracross. We'll have the others win this for you as well." Ash spoke as he returned his pokeball to his belt and raised his eyes up to Sedna. "We're going to have fun no matter what happens. This is another learning experience for us!"

Sedna smiled fully now, and nodded in return.

"Great. Then, show me what you're learning." Sedna replied as she threw out her next pokeball. In a large flash of light and sound, a Butterfree appeared on the battlefield, fluttering about with positive energy.

Ash cocked his head slightly. Of all champions, he wasn't expecting a Butterfree to be used against him. Of course, he said the same thing about Emolga and it wiped out three of his pokemon. So, he gave the Champion the benefit of the doubt.

"Talonflame, you're up!" Ash exclaimed as he tossed the pokeball out into the field.

It exploded open and the large fire-flying bird took the skies, announcing its name with excitement to get a win. While Ash may have decided to not underestimate the Butterfree, apparently Talonflame didn't get the memo. "Flame Charge!"

"Whirlwind, Butterfree." Sedna ordered calmly, watching as the fire bird approached at incredible speeds. However, the movement was slowed down as Butterfree began flapping his winds really quickly, shoving harsh amounts of wind back into the face of Talonflame which completely put out the flames that were once surrounding it.

"Ngh! We'll try that again! Flame Charge! Move around Butterfree!" Ash directed his Talonflame which obeyed properly and swirled around Butterfree. Ash noticed a scarf around the neck of this certain Butterfree which reminded him of his old

Butterfree from years ago. The difference, of course, was that this Butterfree had a red scarf instead of a blue. It reminded him now of a Focus Sash but before he could continue that thought, the flame charge collided with Butterfree and sent it hurtling towards the ground in a puff of smoke and dust.

His ideas were confirmed as Butterfree fluttered back upwards from the ground. It hardly had any gusto left and another attack of any kind would surely take it out of the battle. So, Ash needed to move fast before something else happened.

"Brave Bird!" Ash yelled at his Talonflame, watching it ignite in blue aura and bolt away towards the Butterfree in the air. His plans would be put to a quick end, however, as Sedna's voice filled the Chamber.

"Sleep Powder!"

Suddenly, green specks of powder rushed out of Butterfree's wings and were inhaled by Talonflame, which was dodged by Butterfree when it used Brave Bird. Slowly but surely, Talonflame collapsed to the ground. It wasn't over, but instead Talonflame was asleep.

"No! Talonflame!" Ash cried out as Talonflame twitched briefly, now confirmed to be in deep sleep. Sedna saw her oppurtunity and took full advantage of so.

"Quiver Dance." Sedna ordered her butterfly pokemon, who spun around in a dance like motion, building up strength and speed as it worked. Meanwhile, Ash kept wishing and wishing that his Talonflame would hurry up and wake up before any more damage was done. Butterfree kept dancing, building up more and more power until...

Talonflame's eyes shot open.

"Psybeam, go." Sedna ordered her Butterfree, who shot a very charged and powerful psychic beam at the Talonflame who was lying on the ground.

"DODGE IT!" Ash yelled as Talonflame pulled upwards and completely avoided the attack all together. It swooped back around and got closer to Sedna's Butterfree and glared at it. "Flame Charge! Finish this off!" In sync with his orders, Talonflame ignited in flames and dashed - too fast for Butterfree to avoid in its injured state.

As the impact became visual, Butterfree dropped to the ground and was called back by Sedna immediately afterwards. Sedna rose her eyes up to Ash and smiled, placing Butterfree back onto her belt.

"I'm surprised, Ash Ketchum. I can definitely see how much passion you have with your pokemon. Now, don't let up now!" Sedna exclaimed as she snatched her next pokemon from her side and threw it outwards. "Torterra, go!"

The ball exploded with bright light, illuminating the surrounding area as the Grass and Ground type pokemon was brought outside of the pokeball, glaring up at the Talonflame.

"Tor..." Torterra took a deep breath in before the leaves on its tree began blossoming rather fast. "TERRA!"

Ash smirked. Now, it was looking up in his favor. With him now having the type advantage for both fire and flying, he was certain that his Talonflame could defeat the large pokemon before him. However, now wasn't the time to get cocky as he could tell from his last few rounds.

"Alright! We'll show you how ready we are to win! Talonflame, Flame Charge!"

Ash directed his fire bird. In a quick motion, Talonflame dived from the sky downwards at Torterra, who obviously wasn't fast enough to avoid such an attack. However, there was still something that Sedna could do to possibly avoid such an attack from connecting.

"Double Team." Sedna ordered her Torterra, watching as several massive Torterra's came into view and threw off the aim of Talonflame. "Follow that with Rock Slide."

The real Torterra stomped on the ground with two feet and sent massive boulders hurtling into the air which flew at Talonflame at high speeds. Thankfully, Ash didn't need to tell his Talonflame to dodge as it avoided the massive rocks entirely by spinning and twirling around the boulders with ease.

"Brave Bird!" Ash called out, Talonflame jumping to order as it enveloped itself with a bright blue aura and swooped down at Torterra. The connection was true and sent Torterra sliding backwards several feet. It took massive damage but it was still holding on.

"Frenzy Plant!" Sedna directed, seeing Torterra's tree extend two branches into the ground which caused the floor to shake violently. Following this was several massive branches and vines that grew out of the ground with force. They worked their best to trap Talonflame in a grip that would cut of any way of escaping. However, they couldn't move fast enough to fully encase the fire bird. Until...

One vine wrapped around the feet of Talonflame and drew it into the next vine, which wrapped around the wings, applying tons of pressure on the poor bird with no means of escape.

"Flame Charge! Get out of there, Talonflame!" Ash yelled, seeing the flames engulf the body of Talonflame even though the damage was done. Due to this, the Frenzy Plant was stopped short and applied a burn on Torterra, dropping his attack power. However, too much damage was sustained by Talonflame and it simply dropped out of the sky, collapsing onto the ground. The battle with Talonflame was over, leaving Ash with his last two pokemon. "Talonflame, return!"

With that, he called back his Talonflame and set it back on his belt. Things were about to change big time. Like earlier, he had perfected his team and took lots of time out of his days to train for this specific encounter. Ash Ketchum was now about to unleash the real power of his spirit. Contained in his next pokeball.

"Charizard! I choose YOU!" Ash exclaimed loudly, throwing his pokeball with harsh force. Shooting open and ejecting the fire lizard out onto the battlefield, Charizard stared at Torterra with intimidating eyes. The battle was about to turn around for sure.

"I can feel a strong bond between this Charizard and yourself, Ash Ketchum... Is that a-" Sedna stopped midsentence when she spotted the wrist band around one of Charizard's arms.

It was a mega stone... which meant that Ash's Charizard was now capable of mega-evolving. A person who watched Ash grow with Charizard would have been much more surprised by this, but regardless Sedna could feel the pressure being applied now for sure. Things were about to change.

"Charizard and I grew up together. From our first days on our first journey, Charizard and I learned what it was like to experience change. We adapt..." Ash said, seeing Charizard turn its head slightly to glimpse back at him. "And this Mega-Stone is just proof of the journey we've walked together!"

Taking the key stone from wrist band Ash was also wearing, he clenched a fist around it and closed his eyes. Bright light emitted off of the key stone and from the mega stone attached to Charizard as rays of electricity and light wrapped around each other, extending from the key stone to the mega stone.

"Now, Charizard! Mega-Evolve!" Ash yelled out loud, feeling the bond between them solidify completely. Charizard's appearance began warping, long scaley blades growing off of his forearms, and a large crest of scale and skin growing off of the back of his head. The wings took on a more ragged and torn look while also growing in size. Lastly, the tail grew slightly long scales and the tail flame ignited to a larger flame. Once the transition was complete, the mega symbol appeared in the air surrounding the Charizard.

Mega-Charizard Y appeared before Torterra, a bright light illuminating through the cave. Since it was night time, Drought couldn't function like it ordinarily could.

Instead, a massive ball of flames acted as the sun which powered up Charizard's Fire Type moves.

"Mega-Evolution..." Sedna spoke softly, the sheer force of the mega evolution sending a strong gust through the chamber, rustling her red hair softly. "I can feel the strength from you, trainer. Show me more... Show me where you've gone!"

Ash felt his body ignite as the fuel for battling was now more intense than ever.

"Charizard! Fire Blast!" Ash yelled out, unaware of the volume he had packed behind his extremely loud cry. In a fraction of a second, Charizard took off from the ground and veered upwards to the top of the inside of the cave and looked down at the Torterra with eager to finish this battle right here and right now.

Still, Sedna wasn't going to let the Charizard get away with this.

"Stone Edge. Block the flames!" Sedna yelled to her Torterra, as it stomped on the ground and brought up a fake cliff to block the super massive burst of flames. It was hardly enough, and that was on a successful Stone Edge. That meant that this wasn't guarenteed.

Charizard had shot out its massive flame blast, the fire forming a beautiful shape before colliding with several dozen large rocks and exploding into a flare of dust.

Charizard kept in the air while Torterra had the distance disadvantage as well as the typing.

"Seismic Toss!" Ash yelled as loud as he could, watching as Charizard swooped down at the Torterra and grabbed it. The Mega-Evolution giving it the strength to actually pick up the heavy pokemon. Reaching the top of the cave. Charizard flipped its body weight and tossed Torterra down at high speeds. While in the air, Sedna realized an oppurtunity.

"Frenzy Plant! Catch yourself while attacking." Sedna barked at Torterra, seeing an eruption of vines coming from the ground, wrapping around Torterra and helping him down slowly. Meanwhile, the other half of the plants rose up to Charizards level and threatened to envelop it.

"No you don't!" Ash yelled. "Charizard, Flamethrower!" In a bright flash of light, the vines were turned to ashes as Charizard ignited them all in a bright orange flamethrower. Now, it was an open attack on Torterra.

"AGAIN!" Ash yelled. With that, Charizard blew out a huge amount of flames towards the Torterra, engulfing it completely in a charcoal indusing blaze. Seconds... maybe even minutes passed by. The intensity made time nearly impossible to keep track of. Once Charizard ceased the hell like attack on Torterra, it returned to the side of Ash, looking at Torterra expecting the smoke to clear soon.

Soon, it was. The smoke and dust settled to reveal that Torterra was unable to battle. Unconscious and unable to continue, Sedna grabbed her pokeball and recalled the Torterra.

"You faught well, Torterra." Sedna congratulated her pokemon gently, placing it back on her side. Now, the battle was really picking up. Never had Sedna been pushed past this point in her battling experience besides when she battled Cynthia, ages ago. This trainer she was facing had talent...

... And that wasn't even the end of it. Not even the slightest.

"Altaria, you're up!" Sedna exclaimed as she grabbed her next pokeball and threw it out into the arena. In an explosion, Altaria appeared to face off against the

Charizard. With Dragon Type at an advantage against fire types due to their resistances to such types, Altaria clearly had the upper hand. Plus, Charizard had already used some of its strength in battle.

"Altaaarrriaaa!" Altaria exclaimed as it fluttered to the same level of Charizard.

They met eyes and glared at each other.

"Altaria, eh? I'm so excited to hurry up and win this!" Ash exclaimed, balling a fist. "I hope you're having as much fun as I am, Sedna!"

Sedna smiled behind her stare. While Altaria COULD mega-evolve, she didn't have the Mega-Stone so she would be unable to match the attack power of Charizard head on. Instead, she would have to be smarter and think of things to counteract the sheer force of Charizard's Fire Attack Moves. There had to be something.

"Altaria! Hyper Voice!" Sedna exclaimed. Following commands, Altaria took in breath and wrung out a loud and large cry that echoed through the chamber back and forth through the walls and rocks. Unable to dodge this, Charizard took the hit butstill managed to stay in flight.

"Counter that with Seismic Toss!" Ash directed his Charizard, who took off towards Altaria and grabbed ahold of the cloud-like dragon type pokemon. Unable to break free, Altaria was subjected to the throw. In a harsh attack, Altaria was thrown downwards towards the ground at high speeds. If Sedna didn't come up with a plan soon, Altaria was doomed and the battle could be turned around for sure.

Thats when it clicked...

"Altaria! Expand your wings!" Sedna exclaimed, seeing Altaria simply spread her wings outwards, stopping her from descending altogether. In the brief moment of stillness, Sedna zeroed in on her next move. "Dragon Pulse!"

In response to Sedna, Altaria shot out a strong pulsated dragon onslaught, directed towards Charizard.

"Dodge it! Use Flamethrower!" Ash ordered Charizard. In a quick motion, Charizard completely avoided the blast from Altaria. Little did he know, however, that the more he pushed his Charizard to move around while attacking, the less strength it was going to have when the pressure is applied. Still, Charizard dodges and ignited Altaria in an ultimate blaze. Enveloping the dragon type completely, Altaria was struggling to break free.

"Defog, Altaria!" Sedna suggested. The fast flapping of the wings from Altaria would completely remove the fire from surrounding her while also removing the chances of Charizard avoiding so clean again. It was a pretty sly move. "Now, Dragon Pulse again!"

This time, when Altaria shot its pulse of draconic energy, Charizard couldn't avoid it and took the hit completely. Falling towards the ground, it colllided with the hard rock below and struggled to stand back up. This was mutual with Altaria, as well.

Now that Drought was wearing off finally, Charizard's attacks would be reduced to normal levels which could help the poor Altaria to finish this off. However, Altaria was also looking bad after being hit by a flamethrower and squeezed by Seismic Toss.

"Charizard! Let's finish this with Fire Blast!" Ash called out to this pokemon. In a quick movement, Charizard charged up enough flames and fired it at Altaria.

"Dodge it! Fly upwards!" Sedna directed. Altaria responded correctly, swooping upwards and barely avoiding the fire blast. Now, several meters above Charizard and looking down, Ash was open to attack as was Altaria. "Hyper Voice!"

Again, Charizard was no where near capable of avoiding this attack and took it. Recoiling backwards a few inches, Charizard recieved its next order from Ash.

"Flamethrower!" Ash yelled.

The fire was launched at such a high speed that Altaria hardly dodged, part of its wing being injured in the attack. With both pokemon having been injured so much, Altaria plummeted towards the ground, spiraling downwards into Charizard where it collided and knocked him backwards onto his back. Both Sedna and Ash noticed that their last pokemon were needed, seeing that Charizard and Altaria were K.O'ed.

"Return, Altaria." Sedna said softly, recalling her Altaria into the respected pokeball.

Charizard returned to its normal form due to its own battle being over now. With the last pokemon being required, Ash called back his Charizard.

"You battled amazingly, Charizard. Took a good rest." He said nicely, snatching the next pokeball off of his belt while returning the original one to his belt.

This was it. The final battle between Sedna and Ash Ketchum. He knew what Sedna's last pokemon was going to be while Sedna... Had no idea which one he was going to use.

"It seems you've pushed me to my farthest limits. As a Champion, I must stop you where you are. As a fellow trainer... I must congratulate you on the strength you've gathered. I can feel how powerful you are with the bond of your pokemon. However... there is something missing... A special bond." Sedna spoke, kneeling down to Mawile, the one who had been standing at her side this whole time. "This will be the deciding factor of everything we've worked for. I believe in you just like I believe in everyone else on our team, Mawile. I hope you'll show this trainer just what we've seen on our journey's too."

"Mawile! Ma-Mawile!" Mawile agreed, stepping away from Sedna and into the battlefield, facing Ash who was clutching his final pokemon.

"We've spent so much time together, buddy. Here is how we'll know if our bond is the strongest there is!" Ash exclaimed, his voice gradually getting louder with every word he spoke. "Go, Greninja!"

Throwing the pokeball outwards, it exploded open and revealed the water frog, standing on two legs, staring down Mawile with intensity. This was the missing bond that Sedna felt when the battle was wrapping up.

"The famous Greninja... Show me your true power and defeat me here, trainer!" Sedna yelled out, her voice louder than she had previously gotten it to. "Iron Head!" Mawile's large mouth turned a greyish shiny color, spinning around and acting as a drill, pulling her body after it in the direction of Greninja. With large amounts of force behind this attack, Ash wasn't about to let it get any closer.

"Greninja! Water Shuriken!" Ash directed, the water shuriken being directed at high speeds into Mawile, canceling out her attack without doing any significant damage. The two stood on their respected sides of the stadium and traded looks.

"Play Rough!" Sedna ordered next, seeing Mawile's large mouth turn a darkish pink, with Mawile running at Greninja at high speeds. Before it could react, Ash's Greninja was slammed with the large mouth and second hurtling into the rocky ceiling above. While in the air, Ash directed another move - Cut. While not very effective, Ash used the velocity of the descent downwards onto

Mawile to up the damage of the attack. Still, it didn't do much to the steel and fairy type pokemon. Once again, they stood face to face with battle competition burning in the air.

"Crunch!" Sedna ordered her Mawile, who wrapped the large teeth inside the second mouth behind Mawile's head around Greninja's leg.

"Greninja! No! Use Aerial Ace!" Ash counteracted against the Mawile, ordering the

Greninja to use a never missing attack. It connected, the right hand of Greninja glowing white as it slapped the back of the large mouth belonging to Mawile. Still, the crunch went through and ravaged Greninja, throwing it from left to right. Once it was done, Mawile threw Greninja back to Ash's side of the arena.

"Come on, Ash Ketchum. That's not quite the bond I was expecting from such a powerful trainer... Where is that fighting spirit?" Sedna teased Ash, hoping that he would take the hint and apply more pressure. It almost seemed like Sedna wanted him to win, but it wasn't so much about winning but about knowledge. He was a very powerful trainer, that part wasn't deniable. However, she was after the story.

Ash closed his eyes and looked down at the ground.

"I've battled so many trainers in my life... Caught so many pokemon and learned so many lessons! Still... every time I come across a league I lose... Well, no longer!" Ash yelled out, shooting his eyes open. His heart began pounding - as did Greninja's. Their syncronicity was beginning. "My pokemon along with myself have grown up and learned so much TOGETHER. So, this is my strength! And with it, I will win every battle! AHHHHH!"

Ash screamed at the end of it as Greninja and himself became totally as one. Their minds synced up and Greninja began changing its own appearance. With a red like hat object growing out of its head, and a massive water shuriken growing on its back, Ash was now battle bonded with his Greninja.

Sedna smiled wide. This... This was what she was looking for. The entire time - the short time she had known Ash, she was looking for this kind of energy to prove that he was as powerful of a trainer as he said he was. This was all of the evidence she needed.

But... she couldn't quit now. No. The magnet of wanting to win this battle pulled her body in harder than anything. She was dedicated along with committed at this point.

"I understand your ambition." Sedna spoke before turning around and facing the other direction. Ash couldn't help but look curiously at the woman champion, who now looked like she was about to quit. "I traveled as well... Wanting to be the most powerful trainer ever. I worked day in and day out to get where I am today... So, while this may be an unofficial battle..." Sedna now turned around, and snatched a necklace off from around her neck and wrapped her hand around...

A Mega-Stone.

"... If you think you're going to defeat us here and now... You're wrong! Because battling isn't just about victory... It's about the bond and connection between the trainer and pokemon..." Sedna exclaimed as her eyes closed. The bright light from both the key stone and the Mega-Stone illuminated the entire cave similar to how it was when Charizard had evolved. "Now, Mawile! Mega-Evolve and lets show them our strength as ONE!"

Mawile began changing... With another large mouth growing right beside the original one, and the clothing that Mawile wore changed colors slightly. Growing ever so slightly taller, Mawile was mega evolved and ready to win the battle for the sake of their bond.

"Now! Use Cut!" Ash yelled out to his Greninja, directing it outwards while doing the motion in sync with Greninja. A water blade appeared in the hands of Greninja as it darted outwards towards the Mawile.

"Iron Head!"

Mawile slammed one of its heads into the cut by Greninja, completely deflecting it. While, the other head smashed into Greninja and sent it flying backwards near Ash. Still, it wasn't nearly enough to finish off the water and dark pokemon.

"Ngh! Water Shuriken!" Ash yelled, forming a water shuriken motion with his hands and even going as far as throwing it outwards like Greninja does. The shurikens collided with Mawile and surprisingly sent it flying backwards, landing on her back.

"Ma...wile!" Mawile managed to stand back up, while the arena was getting even hotter. The tension was building and neither of them were moving a muscle to leave.

"You can do it, Mawile! Play Rough!" Sedna exclaimed, seeing Mawile use one of the large mouths to act as a rocket booster off of the ground, ejecting it outwards into Greninja.

"Use Double Team!" Ash ordered, clearly thinking ahead. If Mawile couldn't find the correct Greninja, then maybe he would have enough time to charge up the power on the water shuriken to use as a weapon against Mawile once more.

However, his calculations were off. Mawile moved much too fast, swiping away at the fake Greninja's until Ash's was tracked down and smacked with a large mouth.

"Grab it." Sedna ordered coldly, seeing Mawile clench the Greninja with both mouths, one on each arm. Now, Mawile began shifting Greninja up and down, slamming its lower body into the rocky ground below over and over. The damage was becoming as present as ever the more and more this happened. Until...

The water shuriken was fully charged and resembed an actual shuriken on his back.

"Flip your legs up and use aerial ace on Mawile's shoulders!" Ash barked, watching his Greninja practically flip backwards and kick into Mawile, shooting her back and giving Ash enough room to order the final attack with the water shuriken.

Mawile and Sedna watched as Greninja and Ash placed a hand into the air, and a huge column of water formed over Greninja, charging the gigantic water shuriken up further.

Sedna needed to act fast.

"Get in there, Mawile!" Sedna cried out. The pressure was becoming massive on her shoulders as Mawile took off as fast as she could towards Greninja, even while the water shuriken finished building up.

"GO!" Ash yelled as loud as his lungs would let him, Greninja letting go of the shuriken and throwing it with high force towards Mawile who was still running.

Sedna closed her eyes, waiting for the right moment that Mawile would find. She couldn't do it too soon or else they would miss their shot. All of this, while the orange colored water shuriken charged at Mawile head on.

Not yet...

Not yet...

Now!

"Protect!" Sedna yelled out as loud as she possibly could, as a shield of green appeared before her. The massive water shuriken impacted into the shield as Mawile ran around it, watching as it exploded in a massive water pool. Now, Mawile was ready to attack. "PLAY ROUGH! GO!" Sedna screamed out.

It was over for Greninja as the two mouths behind Mawile's head both began glowing pink and smashed into Greninja, shooting it up into the rocky roof above, even driving Greninja through two feet of pure rock. The explosion of the impact as well as the water shuriken blocked out the vision of the battle until it all cleared...

And Greninja collapsed onto the rocky surface below. Mawile, standing victorious of the battle in front of Sedna. While they may have won, Mawile took a heavy beating and would have likely lost if they hadn't avoided the water shuriken.

Ash nearly collapsed as well when Greninja fell, the bond breaking and Greninja returning back to normal.

As per usual, Ash wasn't mad about this at all... More, glad he could test his strength against an opponent like Sedna. Even though he lost, he learned even more about his stategy and what to do next.

"That was... quite the amazing battle, Ash Ketchum." Sedna muttered as she stepped down from her side of the arena and approached Ash with a smile on her face. Rarely had any other person seen such emotions worn on Sedna, and Ash got to see it for several minutes. "I'm glad I got to learn your passion and story... Your pokemon speak volumes of your courage and bravary."

Ash along with Pikachu approached Sedna, with Ash offering a hand in thanks for such an amazing battle as well.

"Yet another Champion I had no chance of beating... But, I learned so much from you. I hope you did as well..." Ash admitted, stroking the head of Pikachu who in return licked the side of his face in affection.

"I sure did, trainer. I hope one day you return and defeat me so I can know there is someone who feels as strongly about pokemon as I do. Until then, trainer."

Sedna spoke, watching Ash receed from her location.

"When we return, Sedna - We'll be even stronger! We'll win, just you wait!" Ash exclaimed, running off with Pikachu on his shoulder, the way things are supposed to be. He may have lost, but the determination of Ash is far stronger than any trainer could ever hope to have. While losing may not mean victory, losing doesn't mean you lost everything. Ash knows this better than anything and anyone...

And to the people he meets, he gives them just the same kind of hope. That...

Is worth far more than any title or item.

"Until then, Ash." Sedna said, Mawile beside her looking up to her beloved trainer. "We better train, if we hope to hold onto our title."

"Mawile!"

Just a smallish (or large) battle I decided to write based around an OC I had created in a Pokemon RP with a friend of mine. No, shes not a real trainer. But! I tried my best to make her unique even though she was hardly older than Ash is. I hope you enjoyed and let me know if you want to see more battle fanfics in the future!

Until then!
