EMMETT POV
'S ENCHANTMENT
~1972
As I ran freely through the field, enjoying the sun on my winterey skin, the vague scent of blood caught in my nostrils. Animal blood.
"Rose, we're close now!" I called to her. Rosalie was a good forty feet from me. I smirked and accelerated, going further and further until I spotted a dark forest.
I figured it was where we'd be dining this evening, for the scent thickened. I grabbed a a limp branch once I reached the first tree. My eyes widened and I sniffed the air continuously. I was shocked. The scent had... vanished. I could smell nothing but the moist atmosphere. The blood no where to be detected
The air seemed so much clearer here before a thick fog rose before me. I could hear Rosalie's silent sprints become louder as she came closer. Her expression went from flat to astonishment.
"Did it disappear?" she asked me, her coal black eyes hungry for more than answers.
"I suppose it did," I replied. Rosalie hugged herself as if she were cold.
"Well, then we have no buisness here," I watched her turn to leave, knowing I should follow but not wanting to. She turned back around and stared at me with narrowed eyes."Emmett...let's go."
I knew it'd be best to go with her but I was frozen in place. I wasn't sure what but something drew me to the forest, reeling me in, wanting me to explore this strange, foreign place.
"I can't Rosalie. You don't understand..." it was slightly difficult to put this attraction into words. "The woods are calling for me,"
"They're what?"
I let out a a sigh. I myself hardly understood the pull I felt in this place. It was enchanting. I felt a cool calmness here like at home when Jasper puts everyone in order. Though, when he does it's annoying, while here (wherever here was) , it was a natural feeling. That's it! Now I knew how to interpret this to Rose.
"Don't you feel it?" I asked. She didn't answer. Instead, she watched me intently like she was waiting to hear a punchline. When she realized I wasn't kidding around, her eyes widened.
"What are you talking about?" She questioned as if I were insane. Maybe she feels it but doesn't know what it is yet. Possible. I let go of the branch and walked towards her.
"This," I said, "This... pleasant feeling." Rosalie blinked.
"Emmett, you're worrying me," she said backing away. I tilted my head to the side. Is the feeling hurting her?
Then she bolted.
I would usually feel abandonded and hurt. But I didn't. Like a very small portion of me wanted her to leave me alone in this glorious forest. I turned around and smiled happily. To didcover the depth of this Wonderland. This enchantment.
My enchantment.
