Heyyy, guess what? It's Laura! Hahaha, I've been gone for what? Two years? Almost three probably? Sorry about that. You guys probably thought I was dead. ^^; Well, here's the thing. I'm in love with Soul Eater so yeah. Probably not gonna make any new Naruto stories for awhile. I'm trying to back in the zone. And yes, I WILL re-write the stories I deleted. I would like to apologize to the people who faved, followed, or reviewed New Person and Silent Assassin. They were just horrendous and taking up space, so I will re-write them. Trust me. I will. Cuz honestly, I liked where they were going, I just wasn't all that confident about writing them. But I will get onto re-writing them.
Now, about this story, I will try to update as much as possible, but knowing me and my procrastination issues, I probably won't for a good amount of time. Let's just hope that this time, it's not the case. LOL So read and hopefully you enjoy this.
She ran from the crazed mob, trying desperately to outrun them. Government vehicles were following behind the mob and in front. They blocked entrances to alleys she could use to escape.
She took a chance and used her momentum to jump over a car and into the alley. Luckily, she knew the alleyways very well and she knew exactly where she was going.
She willed her legs to move faster, muscles burning, heart pounding. At long last, she reached her destination. She could hear sirens in the distance and she desperately knocked on an abandoned building's door. It opened a crack, a red eye peaking out.
"What the hell do you want?" the man asked.
She held up her arm, a black bruise-looking mark covering her wrist and forearm. The man opened the door completely and pulled her in, quickly slamming the door afterwards. "So you're infected too, huh?" he inquired, looking out a tiny window. "Were you followed?"
"I don't know," she answered tiredly. "There were a few government cars following me, but I cut through an alley."
He said nothing afterwards.
Suddenly, the room seemed to be turning sideways, and she collapsed. She would've hit the floor if the man hadn't caught her. "Hey," he said gruffly. "You alright?"
"They shot me in the shoulder," she murmured.
She was losing blood, and fast. The man took her into the back room where the rest of the people, known as "The Rebellion", were located.
He briskly walked over to a cabinet in the far corner of the room and found some medical supplies. He made her sit on a chair and told her to lift her sleeve. He placed disinfectant cream on her wound and then pressed gauze on it firmly.
She clenched her teeth to keep herself from flinching. He swiftly wrapped the bandages around her shoulder and arm. "There you are, kid." He turned and went to leave from the door they came in from.
"Wait!" she called, softly, trying not to wake the others sleeping. He turned to look at her, slightly, his cold eyes calculating. "My name's Maka Albarn. What's yours?"
He contemplated on answering or not, then decided it wouldn't matter. "Soul. Soul Evans." Then he turned and walked out of the door, closing it softly behind him.
Maka laid down on an empty cot and fell into a restless sleep.
