warning: takes place before Yuuko vanished and Watanuki went all boring and emo. Also, pointless fic is pointless.
notes: oh HAI xXxHOLiC fandom it's nice to meet you WHY ARE YOU SO TINY. Seriously, it irks me.

the thing about fate

„I like you," Doumeki informed him one day during recess.

Watanuki stared. "What."

"I said I like you," the other repeated, rather dully. After a pause, he added, "What's for lunch today?"

One after the other the veins on Watanuki's forehead could be heard popping loudly. "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? DON'T JUST CHANGE THE SUBJECT LIKE THAT! NOT TO MENTION MAKING SUCH A CONFESSION, YOU REALLY HAVE NO CONCEPT OF DECENY OR COMMON SENSE WHATSOEVER, DO YOU? I MEAN—I mean, THE TIMING AND—and we're boys and—just—you—BAD."

"You're not very coherent," Doumeki helpfully pointed out. "Also, you didn't answer my question."

Himawari took exactly this moment to make her appearance and, although she didn't like engaging herself in other people's business, couldn't help scolding Watanuki for being so rude as to ignore other people's enquiries.

The conversation had to be cut short as Watanuki fainted from massive internal bleeding.

Doumeki shrugged, brought him to the infirmary, and called it a day. The Inevitable could take long sometimes, before finally kicking in, but it was definitely unstoppable.

Hopefully.

FIN.
