AN: This is just a quick blurb that came from boyfriend's musings. Thus, its all Justin's fault. Also forgot the terms the Firefly universe uses for TV screen and television program. Please leave a review if any of you know and I'll fix it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Simon or River Tam, Firefly, or any soap opera.
Summary: Simon has a secret passion. A young River finds out what it is.
Simon's Secret
Simon Tam sat in the living area of his family's home, his eyes glued to the display screen his family uses for watching news broadcasts and entertainment screen. His parents had gone out to a late night social event and, in difference to his sister's bedtime, had asked him to stay in with her for the night. With her fed and sent to bed, he could indulge himself for just a bit before their parents returned.
So there he sat, a small bowl of snacks on one side and a handkerchief in his hand. On the screen, characters interacted dramatically with each other while doctors and nurses worked in the background. One woman, a middle-aged bombshell beauty had just found that her husband of six months had been cheating on her with the neighbor's maid who was now pregnant whit his child. So embroiled was he in the intricate lives of the workers and patients of Ariel General Hospital, that he didn't hear his sister sneak up to peer over the couch behind him.
"What are you doing, Simon?" She asked with innocent mischievousness.
Simon jumped and quickly grabbed the remote, turning off the program he had been watching. It was not something their mother would approve for either of them to be watching. "N- nothing! River, what are you doing awake?"
She glared at him cutely, her hand quickly snaking forward to snatch the remote from his grasp. Tapping a button, she started the program again. "You're such a boob." River said, proud she had found a new use for the word she had just learned earlier that day.
"Don't tell mom." Simon pleaded.
River huffed and rolled her eyes at him. "You're still a boob." She tossed the remote back at him before pirouetting and dancing gracefully back down the hall to her room. Simon let his head fall into his hands. He knew she would never let him live this down. For a six year old, she was surprisingly bloodthirsty.
