Useless

The wind swirled around the three bodies, whistling and billowing against them as they stood together, intense expressions on each of their faces. Two of the men faced the third, their hands in fists by their side. Brothers, they stood, one slightly in front of the other as the need to protect kicked in. The brother behind continuously glanced at the front, something hidden behind his expression – disapproval or disappointment. The third man stood with his wand clenched in his hand, his jaw twitching in anger.

"Gellert! This is madness!" Aberforth screamed, the wind carrying away most of his words, making it hard to understand.
"Madness, Aberforth?! No! Madness would be to let the opportunity for greatness just pass you by," Gellert yelled as he faced the brothers. Aberforth shook his head in exasperation, reaching out a hand for the man across from them.
"This is not the way!"
"You have always been on my side, Abe! What has changed?!" The friends stared at each other. Neither making a move, yet neither sure the other would not.

Gellert moved his hands slightly, making Aberforth jump. Instantly the second Dumbledore son had his wand in his hand.
"Albus, go inside!" Aberforth commanded, his eyes fixed on Gellert – whose mouth had twisted into a sickening grin.
"No, Brother!" Albus insisted, his heart beating fast as he pressed a hand to his brother's shoulder.
"Albus, you have no protection here," Aberforth turned to his brother, "Please, go back to Arianna!" Albus stared at Aberforth, his face stricken with pain. "Please, Al." Albus looked across the way to where Gellert stood, then nodded, knowing he would be no use – he never was.

Albus looked back as he heard yelling he could not make out. He let out a cry as Gellert raised his wand and a bolt of light shot from its' tip. Aberforth skillfully deflected the curse, sending his own back. But Albus saw what Aberforth did not. He lurched forward; running to his brother, as Gellert quickly sent two more spells in his direction. Aberforth deflected the first but was unable to see the second, and all Albus could do was watch as Aberforth was hit and sent flying – landing in a heap a few feet away.
"Abe!" He screamed, and had almost reached his brothers side when he saw the wizard behind him raise his wand again. He did not hear the spoken curse as he ran forward and without thinking chucked his body between the glimmering green flame of light and his brother sprawled behind him. Just as the light hit him he saw the expression in Gellerts' face slacken, his eyes widen – as though he could not believe what he had done.

There was a scream...

And then darkness.
