"Right, Trudy, I`ll be going now."

"OK, Victor, have a nice time."

With Vera. And my students were at their homes. And Jasper`s in Egypt. He must be having so much fun.

I sighed as the door slammed behind Victor. If only I was going someplace with my family.

Oh yeah, what family?

I sighed again, trying not to cry. I should be used to being alone. But ever since I worked with Jasper, I`m not so used to it after all. He treated me like a person, not just a woman he was stuck with. I thought we`d be more than just co-workers, but any chance of that disappeared when he left for Egypt. I didn`t even get the chance to tell him how he made me feel.

I switched on the radio. "Lonely This Christmas" by Elvis Presley.

I sang along as I put up the decorations. I don`t want to bother making a fancy dinner when I`m the only one here.

Just a turkey and stuffing sandwich for this year.

That sounds like me. Alone and making a turkey sandwich.

I couldn`t help letting a tear drip. I went to my room and got a fleece blanket, pillow and a book.

I lay it on the sofa and made some cocoa. Then I set up a little nest on the sofa and started reading.

As I fell asleep, I sighed in loneliness.

"Wake up, little girl."

Somebody was poking me. I saw a red suit.

"Wake up."

I sat up and came face to face with someone dimly familiar.

"You were calling out for someone in your sleep. Who were you thinking of?"

"Somebody who means a lot to me."

"Really? Who? How does this person make you feel?"

"His name`s Jasper Choudhary."

"Oh? How does this gentleman make you feel so much, that you dream of him?"

"I worked with him for two months. He was so fun. He had a way of making me smile when I felt more down than a coffin. He always knew how to cheer me up, or make my heart skip a beat. I felt so light and happy when he spoke to me, or smiled in my direction. If he looked stressed out, I would feel so miserable. He was possibly the one for me. I miss him so much, now that he`s in Egypt. I didn`t even get a chance to tell him any of this. I wish he was here and celebrating Christmas with me."

"Well, if you slept, maybe your wish will be granted?"

He got up and winked at me. I fell asleep as soon as I lay down.

"Hello? Is anyone here?"

My eyes flew open in surprise.

"Am I dreaming? One second ago, I was in Egypt!"

My jaw fell. I knew that voice, the tone, everything.

"Jasper, is that you?"

"Trudy? Are you here? Where are you?"

"I`m in the sitting room!"

He came in. He looked about and saw me.

"Trudy! Oh, my Trudy!"

"Jasper!"

He picked me up and span around.

"Oh, angel, I can`t believe it`s you!"

"Believe it, because it`s me! Oh, darling, I missed you!"

"I missed you, too! I haven`t got a clue how I got here, but I`m glad I did. I love you."

"I love you, too."

"I dream of you every night, Trudy, darling."

"I dream of you too!"

Suddenly, the clock struck 12.

Midnight!

"Trudy, quickly."

He knelt in front of me.

"Will you marry me, Trudy?"

"Yes, of course I will!"

He gave me a diamond ring, then he stood up and kissed me as the clock`s twelfth strike ended.

This is such a perfect Christmas.
