"Hey TK,"
"What?"
"What do you want to do now?"
A boy and girl were walking down the street... Well, they were more like standing still. In the middle of nowhere, a quiet suburban town of Odaiba, the early afternoon heatwave had come upon the two. The temperature was well above 90 degrees farenheit. Enough that could cause anyone's brain to fry and wonder what the true significance of today really was.
"At least I have my beach hat."
"You always have that beach hat; I think it should be about time you found a new style."
"You always say that."
"And you never listen."
"Quiet, you." And they became silent for a while. Not knowing that they would create such an awkward silence, they both started to listen to their environment. It wasn't like there was anything to listen to.
"The birds aren't around. I don't hear them cawing. Maybe they decided to fly up to Hokkaido," TK said.
"Maybe you're right," the girl named Kari said, "They might be dead. I don't see why anyone would be able to withstand this heat." She took off her bandana, and started to fan herself. "So what do you want to do?"
"Maybe we can go to the mall. But just like any other time, we would probably be as bored as hell. Though, they at least have air conditioning... Wanna go there?"
"Fine." The two started walking down the sidewalk. Their parents were all at work today. Being that they were off from school, the sunny weather made them think that there could be a lot to do on a day off, yet only to find that Odaiba itself was not all that interesting. There were no cars in sight, and all one could see was the high rise buildings and the cloudless sky.
TK started, "You know Kari..."
"What?" she said. The summer breeze started to blow faster.
"I can't help but be bothered by what the teacher did to me yesterday," he said.
"What did he do?"
"He molested me..."
"What?"
"No, I'm just kidding."
"You scared me, cause that's the type of thing that he would actually do. Don't make me worry so much about you," Kari said.
"Why would you need to worry about me? I'm a man you know. I could beat Davis's butt."
"No you couldn't. I could."
"You're right. You're more than a man than me, and you're just a little girl."
"I call myself a woman, thank you very much, Mr. Bucket Hat."
"Ugh; at least give me some credit."
"Credit for what?"
"For telling the teacher to back off when he was trying to do the same to you," TK said. However, he did not realize that he was bringing up a sensitive issue, "... but I could understand his actions, because everyone knows you're cute."
Kari didn't answer; her eyes were covered by her long bangs; they had already frizzed up due to the hot weather. She walked slower trying to think about it, yet at the same time seemed spaced out.
"Kari, you okay?"
"He did that to me... all semester..." Not knowing what was going on anymore, she aimlessly walked towards the road, only to find that a car was coming on pretty fast.
"Kari, what are you doing?"
Then she finally came to, and started to yell but she couldn't. Her feet were frozen on the pavement. In milliseconds, the car rushed towards her. The driver had started to honk and had just started to realize what had happened.
"Ka-," her head slammed into the windshield, and she spiraled into the air. "-ri..." She fell back onto the pavement. Her legs spread in different angles as they were broken from falling first. Blood poured from her forehead, and one could hear from her mouth a faint "TK..."
And with that, she lay dead on the sidewalk.
