An Unexpected Twist

Lily caught herself smiling like an idiot as she read the quickly scrawled note that had appeared out of nowhere beside her breakfast plate. She would recognise that messy handwriting anywhere. The note asked her to come down to the big tree beside the lake, so when she finished eating, Lily began the long stroll to the meeting place.

It was a sunny Sunday morning, and a handful of students were already outside enjoying the early morning sunshine. Severus waved to her as she walked past the tree where he was sitting and reading. Guiltily, she smiled and waved back. She did feel bad about not going to talk to him; it was clear how much he liked her, but she just didn't feel the same way. She'd tried, but she just couldn't. Sev was sweet, but he was only a friend. All Lily's thoughts were of another boy. His messy black hair, his cocky grin, his arrogant and attention-seeking personality, all of it. She didn't know why she had fallen for him, she just had. She couldn't explain it, not to her friends, not to herself, and especially not to Severus. She hadn't even tried to explain it to Severus. It was better he didn't know.

She finally reached the tree, and felt her heart skip as she saw him waiting there. So many girls wanted him. Half the girls in the school, she could bet. But he had chosen her. She was the luckiest girl on the planet. He raised a hand in greeting, the smile on his face to match the morning sunshine, and she found herself walking faster, as though he was drawing her in. She reached the tree, and fell into his arms. How she loved him. She had never thought she would, but for some reason she did. She snuggled closer to him, and he kissed her softly on the lips. She felt her heart sing. He would be hers for ever, her Sirius Black.

I know, I know, it's really short, but still, review please :)
