SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! DO NOT READ if you have not yet read Deathly Hallows!!!!
Disclaimer: I don't own Snape. Or his undying love for Lily.
The following is a song I wrote whilst sobbing like a madwoman over the tragic end of Severus Snape. I actually wrote a melody to accompany it, which I slapped on my music software and fiddled with until it resembled a full orchestral arrangement, which I then proceeded to blast at full volume and cry along with shamelessly until my neighbors got angry. Anyway, here is "The Song of the Prince:"
Red
Deeper than blood
Bringing me to my knees
She bled
As pure as her soul
More pure than I could bleed
I breathe her
Last breath in my lungs
Our hearts beat in time
My desire
Lies dead on my tongue
I could never call her mine
Break
Make my heart shake
Show me how lovers feel
When life goes on
Time
Will not let me heal
She'll never be less real
As life goes on
Life goes on
Down
Deeper I go
Drowning in my own fate
Failed
I could never undo
My eternal mistake
I cherish
I perish
I burn
For my sweet silver doe
My memories
Become blurry
In turn
But I never let them go
Break
Make my heart shake
Show me how lovers feel
When life goes on
Time
Will not let me heal
She'll never be less real
As life drags on
Life drags on
Are you waiting
Out there by the shore
As I reach the end?
Will I hold you
Will I feel you once more?
Will you take me back again?
Forgive
I beg to your eyes
Staring down in surprise
Grant me
Peace
And sweet release
You needn't even speak
Just look at me
Look at me
Fade to black.
(A short blurb: In the first line, when it says "Red/ Deeper than blood" it is supposed to symbolize how his love for Lily outweighed any concern he had for the "purity" of wizarding families and blood ties. Similarly, saying that she bled more pure than he could means that despite her muggle heritage, she would always be more pure than any pureblood. Or halfblood in Snape's case. Finally, although this may seem obvious, the final chunk of the song is supposed to coincide with Snape's last moments alive; Harry is looking down at him with Lily's eyes, and Snape begs him to look at him as the last light in his eyes fade until they are lifeless and black.)
