"Kyuu?"

"Kyuubi?"

Why was it so dark?

Naruto stood in his mindscape, or what he believed to be it. He couldn't tell because there was no light. There was no comforting red hue to light his way towards the demon. Taking cautious steeps Naruto made his way forward, relying on his hearing. The water sloshed back and forth from the disturbance of Naruto's feet. Walking slowly Naruto marched on in the dark abyss.

"Kyuubi come on. Stop playing games."

The fox usually made it so easy to find the cage that held him. Unless he was angry at the blonde but Naruto couldn't remember in recent events that could have made the fox angry enough to shut off all the lights. Wasn't this his mind anyways?

The unpredictable ninja was often finding himself in his mindscape these days and he didn't know why. Every time it seems when Naruto gets knocked out or goes unconscious there he is walking towards the familiar red light. This time was different though, he needed to get back to the battle as soon as possible. Who knows what the enemy ninja could be doing?

Wading slightly faster Naruto suddenly stopped. He heard a noise that sounded awfully like Kyuubi when he shifted his large body inside the small cage. Frowning at the thought of still not seeing the normal red light Naruto turned and tried to face what he presumed to be the fox.

"Kyuubi is that you? Why can't I see anything? Where'd all the lights go in this place?"

The fox just stared. There was the blonde container with his arms waving out in front of him searching for some form of solid conformation of where he was. His face was contorted in an expression that Kyuubi decided was confusion. But the most defining feature that was about to change his container's life was not the three parallel scars for once, instead in the place which such expressive emotions originated were empty sockets of nothingness.

There were no sky blue eyes.
