WELCOME TO ANOTHER INSTALEMENT OF "DRAGON ADVENTURES"
A fanfic series, were virtually all my Dragon fanfics are part of a big elaborate interwoven series written at random but linked on this big timeline that connects with the actual TV series/Films/elements from the original books by Cressida Cowell and my own original work (The Ring Dynasty) even characters created by fans (Alia - 'Echoes of the Past' is a fan requested character) They are all rated 'M' and are all marked individually. Full of fun, intrigue, laughter, romance and action. Some are poetic and sweet, some dark and gory, and even a few are sensationally spicy (coming soon)
So I hope you enjoy the many chapters of this larger than life series. Based on DreamWorks adaption of Cressida Cowell's Book Series, powered by my endless passion for DRAGONS.
Enjoy!

So imagine this, its nightfall, it's the 4th year anniversary of a holiday only important to me. I'm in a red dress fighting with the back zipper and this idea comes to mind. I've got this big weekend planned nice clothes, great food, all the movies/shows of the series.
Just me and Dragons.
Yes, peoples I'm a lonely viking-ess, but for one weekend of the year that don't matter. So I get ready and woops, I couldn't get the zipper on my red dress to work. It's been in storage for so long my size has changed. Tragic as that feels, again DRAGONS comes to my aid in making me feel better over something that isn't even in the films. That's the magic of this story for me. It supports in ways even I don't see coming.
So eventually I get the dam zipper to work and I look fantastic – much needed comforts. So now I've sat down on the sofa, cracked open a drink, and while I'm watching Dragon music videos, I now write this story, an accompaniment to the previous holiday fanfic 'The Perfect One' it's funny, it's silly and it's been great fun to write.
I give you….
The Imperfect Perfect Love
How to Train Your Dragon 4thYr Mini Anniversary Fanfic
Many years ago a young Viking boy stood behind a bush, captured by the glorious sight of the girl he loved semi dressed, bathing with her dragon in the river. It was a moment basic in nature but vital to that boys very future. For it had been that moment in time when he realised that his affections for that young girl were no longer mere puppy-love. He learnt that day that what he felt would grow and change and develop as the years went by. He knew his love for her would last forever.
Now, many years later, he in a new land, Dragons have left for the Hidden World and the new new Berkians had built a different world for themselves. Bigger, grander buildings, each a testament to their love of Dragons even after they have gone. The beloved now Viking Chief and his lady love were married and were now living happily together in the new house they'd built. However, Hiccup would have to build more to their home to make room for an unexpected addition to their family. Some found this to be a good thing….his wife, Astrid, feels differently.
"I can't, believe. This!"
Astrid growled through gritted teeth one Snoggletog morning. Standing at the end of the bed were Hiccup was sleeping she struggled with her clothing, trying to make items fit that were clearly no longer going to. Her growing baby was stealing its mother's figure, inch by infuriatingly annoying inch. When she'd awoken that morning, at the crack of dawn as usual -a habit built into her from her time with her dragon where they'd often go flying before dawn's light-she'd been intending to be ready and perfect for her duties as a Chief's wife. She'd been getting a bit of sass from other wives about her appearance. There hadn't been anything direct that she could address but more subtle and unclear, yet there and it irked her no end. So she'd intended to be perfect this morning….they however were not several months pregnant. Astrid growled softly again as the hooks on her clothing refused to budge.
Hiccup slowly opened his eyes and drowsily sat up resting back on one arm he rubbed the sleep from his eyes and watched Astrid as she tired to fit into her cloths. Due to the hours he kept as Chief he wasn't the best of them in the morning, that was Astrid, alert and on key every morning. Since they'd moved to the new lands and their Dragons had all gone to the Hidden World, Astrid and him had become total opposites…okay, so more opposite than usual. He was geared up and working hard by afternoon and into the night, whereas by that point Astrid and the baby she was carrying made her really tried…an cranky…okay, so more cranky than usual. Hiccup laughed quietly to himself.
"You son-of-a, hackral mutton head….augh! Just work you-"
"Astrid are you okay?"
His beautiful wife turned to him red faced, eyes blazing in an instant he realised that had been the wrong question to ask.
"No I'm not! Do I LOOK okay? I'm the size of a scauldron who swallowed a fleet!" She cried out referring to her growing tummy, every day increasing with the growth of their first child.
Now, Hiccup at this point knew he should be an understanding supportive husband but he couldn't help it. She looked so perfect, and her words made him roar with laughter suddenly and with great heart.
"You think this is funny, Chief!" Astrid scolded.
"No…I mean,…" Hiccup found it hard to hold in his laughter. With her long gorgeous hair braded into two plates on either side of her head, her bright blue eyes blazing with anger and her body with child Hiccup hadn't seen anything more beautiful in his life.
"This is all your fault you know." Astrid snapped even as her anger simmered.
"I can't fit into anything anymore." This time her voice was saddened.
Taking a deep breath Hiccup sobered and saw the instant anger turned to misery in his wife's eyes. She stood at the end of the bed, her arms folded over her voluptuous chest and her head turned away from him. Everything about her mood change it would scream to even a moron husband that his wife needed comfort.
Sitting up he knelt on his knees at the end of the bed, the bed he'd shared with her all these years since they'd married a few Snoggletog seasons ago. He reached out for her arm and drew her down on to his lap.
"You don't look like a scauldron, full or otherwise. You look beautiful. For a moment there you reminded me of back when I defeated you in the dragon training program. Even though I didn't want to win back then. You were furious! I thought you were going to take my head off with your mother's axe."
He laughed slightly at the memory as he stroked her back tenderly. Holding her close in his arms, warming her with his body as he distracted her from her perfectly normal distress over her changing body. Though she might not realise it or even believe it he still found her perfect, more so, even as the thought of her caring his child filled him with such a proud possessive emotion. It was something he never thought he'd word get the chance to experience. If you'd asked him all those years ago back by that river if he thought he'd be sitting here now on New Berk, with Astrid as his wife and caring their child he would have thought you were crazy! Such a dream he'd thought was beyond his grasp, even in fantasy.
"You mean my mother's axe that you broke when we were kids, secretively replaced and didn't tell me about till we were almost married?" She asked with a smile. Resting her head against his bare chest enjoying the warmth of his body more so than that from the fire in the hearth.
She felt the rumble of his laughter through his chest.
"Yeah, that axe. Sorry."
She smiled knowing as a good wife would that he'd successfully distracted her from her misery. Oh, she still felt the sting of not being able to fit into anything anymore but she had love and love meant everything in a marriage.
She also knew that it didn't really matter that a few years later she'd lost that same axe in the final battle with the dragon flyers. It actually lessened the blow to know it hadn't been her mother's axe destroyed that day. Things weren't always as they seemed. If you'd asked her that day of the dragon training programme finals that she'd marry the boy standing beside her, that she'd love him with everything she was, she would have thought you nuts! For sure. Life had a very funny way of changing thoughts and feelings. A real person changes with them. It was those who criticised others for the changes in opinions or feelings that were the one's lacking. Just because the new feeling or thoughts were different to a moment in the past. Well, they were as worthless as her clothing. Not worth thinking about.
So she didn't.
She snuggled closer to her husband and eventually they ended up beneath the covers once more. Nestled in the warmth of each other's arms. Having lived out the fantasies of that long ago day by the river they now enjoyed the delightful consequences growing within her. Her body might offended her but their baby never would. This was pure heaven to them both. If only Stormfly and Toothless could be here… she thought to herself. The longing was there in Hiccup's thoughts too, she knew it was. That was their marriage, their friendship. They didn't always need words to communicate a common thought or feeling. Yeah, she was pregnant, couldn't fit into her clothing anymore, he was a battle scared man with a metal leg. They were not perfect. They weren't some fantasy, they were Vikings. Lucky enough to find love with each other. It wasn't out of reach, it wasn't a dream. It was real.
Together they were prefect. Imperfectly perfect….
For each other.
"I love you Hiccup." She softly whispered as sleep crawled over her once more. They had hours yet before they needed to make an appearance in the village.
Who cares about looking good or fitting into perfect clothing? She was pregnant and proud to be. Anyone who tried to cast aspersions upon that glorious fact would soon discover that her fits still worked well. Especially if it was Snotlout.
"I love you too, Astrid." Hiccup kissed the top of her sleepy head. Loving that his dreams had come true and exceeded anything he'd ever imagined.
"…but Hiccup…." Astrid sleepily whispered to him so he leaned closer to hear her as sleep closed in.
"If you ever do this to me again…."
Knowing what was coming he smiled in secret.
"I'll finish what I started that day, in dragon training…."
Hiccup chuckled as he drew her closer and closed his own eyes.
"I'm sure you will, sweetheart."
NEARLY TWO YEARS LATER.
"HICCUP! I'm going to kill you!"
Hiccup was in the Great Hall at a table covered with papers at the sound of his wife's enraged voice he jumped. For a moment he thought what on earth had he done. Oh, sure they had their fights but nothing that ever truly caused murderous fury. They loved each other like few got the chance to. He knew it, he was confident in their love. The baby girl in his arms as he worked was testimony to that fact. Love made even the long hours, no sleep and headaches wroth every second when their daughter smiled at them.
Now, as a gurgling nearly one year old daughter sat in his arms, playing with her father's growing bead he looked up at his wife who'd barrelled through the large oak doors. Throwing them open with both hands, her face as red as it had been that Snoggletog morning when she'd discovered she couldn't fit into any of her clothes any more…
Uh-ohhh.
Realisation dawned and soon a large satisfied almost smug grin swept across his face.
"Don't sit there grinning like a Night Fury! You one legged bearded Viking! You did it again!"
Hiccup almost laughed.
Yes, he had. He could remember the moment fondly. His wife had just managed to bring back her figure and had all but pounced upon him in her glee. Not the best of celebration tactics. He mused now grinning profusely.
"Ohh! Do you hear that! You're going to have a baby brother or sister!" Hiccup gleefully cheered to their daughter, gently jostling her in his arms. All but ignoring Astrid's fury speaking to their daughter instead, tweaking her nose playfully and making her giggle.
"Look at that she laughed, at least I can make one of you happy. Although I do recall making you equally happy a few weeks ago."
As he'd expected she thumped him clear in the chest and growled. The expert hit landing nowhere near their daughter as he continued to cradle her in his arms and tease Astrid.
"Don't throw that in my face, I'm mad at you." Astrid snapped, turning a sexy shade of red. She'd claim it was from the anger she felt but once again he knew her too well. The memory of that night still made him blush too. It had been a unique experience even for them.
"Well, mommy's the one who should question what she throws at me. Shouldn't she darling." Hiccup teased referring to how she'd thrown herself at him that had now left her with child again. He thought about it for a second and internally shrugged.
Yeah, no he didn't regret a thing. How could he?
Hiccup then laughed too thrilled at the news to care about the threat to his life. He'd learnt the answer to his long ago question anything about Astrid was worth dying for. Be it by her or someone else, he never cared. He had proven that he'd die a thousand deaths for her. Nothing had changed.
"I'm going to be a father again!"
He stood up and playfully sprung his daughter around, tossing her gently in the air and catching her again.
Astrid stood with her arms folded across her chest. Annoyed.
"You are missing the point you mutton head!"
She called to them. Still angry but once more finding her fury met with irrepressible glee instead of regret. How could a woman despise a man who loved her too much to entertain her temper over good news? Okay, so they hadn't planned this baby any more than they had their daughter…sure they'd intended to have children…just not when they had…Astrid sighed inwardly. Who was she kidding? She adored their daughter and would love the child they were having now...already did! Despite her annoyance over losing her figure just a few weeks after she got it back!
Oh Thor!
She hung her head defeated.
"Here we go again." She lamented.
Hiccup stopped prancing around delightedly, held his daughter in one arm and drew his wife to him with the other. Kissing her profusely. Loving her as he'd always done. Embracing all the imperfections she had and delighting in the perfect ones.
"You love me admit it." He teased.
"…and you'll love this child like you do this one." He reiterated her own conclusions as he handed her their daughter. Astrid smiled as she hugged her daughter. Hiccup watched as mother and daughter rested their foreheads against each other's and felt his heart clench with irrepressible happiness and love as he gazed at his family.
"See. Told you." Once more Astrid thumped him playfully.
"Don't be so smug."
He laughed.
"How can I not be I'm going to be a father again!"
Astrid smiled as she played with her daughter watching as she tugged on her braid.
"Yeah and you had full responsibility for that."
Hiccup faked being surprised.
"Oh are you suggesting that I'm not to blame for our present state because you enticed the whole thing? Wow, never thought I'd see the day Astrid admits blame!"
She hit him again then drew him into a family huddle. Kissing their daughter then him.
"No." She continued. Loving her family and the sensations that were running through her. "The husband is always to blame for things like this. It's just the way it is. It's a loving wife's job to torment him about it and make sure he knows it."
Hiccup laughed holding them both close to him. A few moments passed when Astrid sighed.
"…my clothing…." She murmured sadly for a moment not too keen on the troubles to come.
"So I'll make you bigger clothing…" Hiccup declared then drew them both close again. Placing a hand to her still flat tummy and smiled. Love shining in his green eyes as he met hers.
"My imperfect perfect wife." He whispered tenderly.
"Do you think I could ever love you less?….that my dear, is a fantasy."
