Oscar and Bea walked through the doors of the school gymnasium, hands linked as a sign of their new relationship status. Gasps and whispers spread through the crowd as people observed this. They moved out onto the dance floor and began to slow dance as everyone watched.
"You can have any boy in the whole school, Bea! Why do you choose Oscar? He's a total nerd." The words echoed through Bea's head.
"Because...I love him."
Sure, it was true; Bea was so popular and pretty that no boy could deny her. She could literally have any boy in the school.
She chose Oscar for all the obvious reasons. He was good to her, cared for her and she felt warm and safe in his arms.
Bea leaned in and rested her head on his shoulder. For Oscar, this was like a dream come true.

"What I don't understand is why you'd go out with him. He's a total loser nerd." Steve Jackson said as he and Bea sat in study hall.
"Because I know I can always trust him and count on him to be there for me when I need him. He'd never dream of hurting me and he respects me more than I can say for any other guy I've dated. The only reason he'd hurt someone is if they hurt me. He's...a really great guy." Bea explained.
"Oh come on. You didn't even give me a chance. You had your chance with me and you were completely focused on him." Now Bea was getting irritated.
"Look, Steve, I wouldn't trade Oscar for the world and if you can't see I care about him and he cares about me then you're just an arrogant jerk!" Bea turned to her desk as the bell rang, gathering her things and seeing that Oscar was patiently waiting for her. She happily grabbed his hand as they went to their next class, making Oscar's dreams come true. Steve listened in envy as all her friends complimented on how cute they were together and how they wish they could find love like that.
