I own nothing used in this fic.

"A game?"

"Yeah, Lucciano-kun! It's called Kagome, Kagome. C'mon, join us, it'll be fun!" Ruka beamed at Lucciano, ignoring her brother, who was grumbling about not wanting the other boy to join in.

"I don't see why not," Lucciano said, offering Ruka a smile in return. He walked over to Ruka, Rua, Tenpei, Bob, and Patty. "So, how do you play this game?"

"One person stands in the middle, blindfolded, while everyone else links hands. They'll walk in circles around the blindfolded person, and at the end of their chant, the blindfolded person has to guess who's standing behind them!" Tenpei explained.

"Sounds simple enough, I suppose."

"Then let's start!" Patty put the blindfold on Ruka, then joined hands with everyone else.

Lucciano kept silent as the others chanted. "Kagome, Kagome, little bird, crouch in your cage. When, oh, when will she get out? Up before the light of dawn, crane and turtle slipped and fell. Who's behind you, can you tell?" He found himself staring at the back of Ruka's head, which tilted to one side when the chant ended.

"Ah... Lucciano-kun?"

"Correct." Lucciano looked around at the others. "Now what?"

"You switch places with Ruka, and the process repeats!" Rua almost shoved Lucciano to the center, as Ruka took off the blindfold and handed it to the red-headed boy. He put it on and silently waited. The chant came again.

"Kagome, Kagome, little bird, crouch in your cage. When, oh, when will he get out? Up before the light of dawn, crane and turtle slipped and fell. Who's behind you, can you tell?"

The game carried on for about half an hour, though, every time Ruka found herself in the center of the circle, it was always Lucciano that was behind her.

Ruka repeated the words out loud. "Kagome, Kagome, little bird, crouch in your cage. When, oh, when will she get out? Up before the light of dawn, crane and turtle slipped and fell. Who's behind you, can you tell?" She sighed and bowed her head. She really ought to have seen it coming. She started to wonder whether it was mere coincidence that Lucciano was always the one behind her, the one who was about to stab her in the back, the demon who had killed the turtle and crane. It made so much sense now that she thought back. It was only a game, though. It was just a silly children's game that they all played to pass the time that day. She was thinking about this too much. However... coincidence or not, it was something that gave her the chills when she thought back to it.

So, I decided to look up that Kagome, Kagome game after listening to "Circle You" for the tenth time this week and after I read a section about its analysis, I came up with this. Hope you all liked it. Also, the version of the chant that I used was one that was found in episode 3 of Tactics, since it flowed better than the direct translation of the Japanese version.
