A short one shot. It turned out nicely in my opinion, I hope you like it.
"Barry!" Ash exclaimed as noticed the orange eyed trainer.
"Hey, Ash." Barry mumbled back.
"And this time we didn't run into each other." Ash said jokingly.
"Yeah." Barry agreed, he kept walking past Ash and company without looking up from the ground.
"What's with him?" Ash asked Brock.
"Probably personal problems, let's leave him be."
"I want to know what's wrong with him." Dawn said as she jogged after the boy.
"Barry!" Dawn called after him, he stopped and turned around.
"What's going on?" She asked sincerely.
"It's nothing." He told her before turning to leave. She put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. "What?"
"I want to know what's bothering you." She said commandingly.
They both stopped talking as their eyes locked on with each other, a bolt of electricity shot through Dawn's body but Barry remained numb.
"Please." She added.
"Fine. I lost to Palmer, again."
"So?" She asked confused of why that would bother him.
"So? So? I've lost to him so many times. I can't even knock one of his Pokemon out." He put his hands into his pockets and looked at the ground.
"But Barry, isn't he a Frontier Brain?"
"Yeah." He said as he kicked a pebble away from him.
"So he should be hard to beat. So you shouldn't be down about it." She said after going through the logic in her brain.
"But he's also my father which makes the defeat even worse."
"He's your father?" She asked with her mouth hanging open.
"Yes, I thought you knew that."
"No! But even if he is your father, why does it bother you so much that you lost?"
"I don't know, it just does."
"But why?"
"Dawn?" He interrupted.
"What?"
"When we were younger, in Twinleaf town. You remember me right?"
"Yes, but you don't remember me." She said with a depressed look on her face.
"That's not true, I remember you, who wouldn't? You were always the loudest, funniest, cutest girl in town, I didn't forget about you." He said, a blush found it's way on both of their faces when he said 'cutest'.
"Then why did you say you didn't remember me?"
"Well, I knew you would bother me about it and that would mean I would get to see and talk to you and you wouldn't leave me behind again."
"Really?"
"Really"
"When did I leave you behind?" She asked.
"When you got your Pokemon, I had already gotten mine awhile before but I stayed back so I could still be near you."
"I'm so sorry, why didn't you tell me?"
"I was, the day you were leaving I was going to. I thought it would be romantic and maybe we could travel together but you left before I could reach you."
"Well, what's stopping you now?"
"Nothing I guess. Dawn, I love you." He stated nervously.
"Kiss me." She told him.
He leaned in, put an arm around her waist and pressed their lips together.
Barry woke up abruptly, he rubbed his head and looked over at Ash who was sprawled out on the ground.
"Aw, Barry. Why do we always run into each other?"
"I dunno. I have to go." He said as he got up and walked away.
He wished that the dream could have been real, he wished he could have Dawn in his arms but he didn't.
"Barry!" Dawn called after him, he stopped and turned around.
"What's going on?" She asked sincerely.
He didn't want to waste time in case it was another dream so he pulled her into a tight embrace and kiss her.
"What was that for?" She asked after the kiss.
"It's nothing." He said with a smile on his face.
Review please, I really like the way the dream thing worked into it but I don't know if I pulled it off well. Thanks for reading though.
