Do you Remember Love?

--

A/N: This is a poem from the female tortoise in the PS2 Kung Fu Panda game. She is remembering her time with Oogway, because even he needs love, and I don't think he gets enough mentioning. I know is says 'as you made love to me', but realize that 'making love' could mean its face value of sex, or it could be something as simple as glancing at each other, talking, holding hands, etc. Love is something we make through every kind action and generous word we allow to pass through us, and so this is dedicated to Master Oogway, from the elder female tortoise. No, I don't own KFP, but I do own these words, and will sick Tai Lung on you if you steal them without my permission.

Do you remember the night it rained?

As though the

Stars

Were

Falling,

Tears of joy from the angels,

Cascading down our age worn faces

Like water in an ancient stream,

Peaceful,

Gradual,

Real,

As you made love to me.

Do you remember the night it snowed?

Angels' freckles, you called them.

Softest touch,

Hands too nervous,

Hearts racing the wind,

Pillars

Of powder

Spiraling

In the night,

As you made love to me.

Do you remember the night it hailed?

Cruel ice bouncing off sturdy shells,

Too

Much

Pleasure

To

Care.

Nirvana too near to move

As you made love to me.

Do you remember the night I cried?

Your voice softest silk,

Soothing my weary soul as

I pledged my life to you,

'I

Love

You'

A single cry in the night,

Ringing out my loyalty,

As you made love to me.

Do you remember the night we sang?

Sake warming our hearts,

Loosening

Our

Lips,

And drowning our inhibitions.

Love songs in languages

Forgotten

To

Time

Saturating the air with a sound

Too

You

To

Be

Real.

As you made love to me.

Do you remember the night we danced?

Silent music coursing through us,

Hot

As

Fire,

Moving us to a beat unheard,

Tangible,

Fast-paced,

Memorable,

As you made love to me.

Do you remember the night we died?

Two souls,

Lost,

Together,

Free.

Our last breaths coinciding as our bodies dissipated,

Yours in Earth,

Mine in water,

Billowing waves matching dancing petals,

Together

In

Eternity

As you made love to me.

Do you remember the night it rained?

As though the

Stars

Were

Falling,

Tears of joy from the angels,

Cascading down our age worn faces

Like water in an ancient stream,

Peaceful,

Gradual,

Real,

As you made love to me.
