Danny drew in a deep breath trying to calm his racing heart. He fiddled with his tie while nibbling his lower lip.
"Damn, why do ties have to be so complicated?"
The halfa grinned triumphantly, tightening the red annoyance around his neck. Tugging the hem of his fancy looking jacket, the town hero winked, pointing fingers at his reflection. "Looking good, Fenton, now she'll have to say yes."
After taking a few minutes fixing his hair, Danny knew he was ready. He left for his car, packing a bouquet of flowers and some chocolates; Danny mentally checked off his supplies and made the short drive to the Manson residence.
He knew the route like the back of his hand, from the small bumps that rocked his car to the tiny cracks.
Was he going insane?
No, he was just persistent. Everyone knows that Danny Phantom never gives up, no matter how difficult his foes were, the hero will always triumph over evil!
Gathering his supplies, he made his way to the front door and gave it three light raps. He stood up straight and smiled when a beautiful girl opened the door.
"Danny? What do you want?" She hissed, clearly displeased.
This was it, now or never.
"I'm sorry if this is the wrong time to approach you like this, but please I need this." He could only hope she'll listen this time.
"Danny, we've been over this before, the answer is 'no'. I don't know what you expect out of this."
"A life time of happiness," He tried his charming smile and offered her the flowers, just to sweeten the deal.
She was unfazed. "No."
"Oh, come on! I've been doing this for almost a whole week and you still think I'm 'unworthy'?" He made sure to sound the word with a mocking tone.
Her scowled face produced wrinkles, "I don't care if you do this for the rest of the year! I will not allow my Sammikins to marry such a buffoon!"
Danny tried to speak holding up an enquired finger.
"No matter how many times he's saved the world."
His clapped his mouth shut; resolve dissolving at her menacing glare.
"Now, if you're done wasting my time with this nonsense, I have dinner to make. Good day, Mr. Fenton."
The door slammed shut before he could protest.
Green energy pooled into his eyes illuminating the air in a sunny-yellow glow. With a huff, he turned marching down the concrete stairs, kicking a stone to help calm his anger.
He snorted, "In-laws," shaking his head, Danny slid into his car, tossing the flowers and chocolates in the back seat.
The car remained parked on the side of the road.
Danny's mind was rushing a thousand times a second, his eyes locked on the very interesting steering wheel. His eyes widen, realization hitting him like a wave. A giant grin split across his face, Danny started the engine and drove back home, his grin never ceasing.
Why did he need their blessings anyways? Him and Sam were both eighteen and could easily elope to anywhere in they wanted to go. They loved each other and were happy together and as for her parents, well they could just sulk all they want. One thing was for sure.
"I'm going to marry her anyway."
