Rita sat in her room, waiting anxiously for the mail to arrive. She pulled out her diary and began writing about her latest accomplishment, which was bringing together enough money for a scholarship at Piccadilly Sewer University.

Oh, does it know I'm anxious? Does it know that I want to go to college? Oi…..I must be going crazy… she thought. Marita KayLynn Renaldo Malone, you are just getting a slip of paper that says either 'yes' or 'no', nothing else! Just a piece of paper!

"Just a slip of paper that will change your life in every way, shape, and form," A voice said from Rita's doorway. Roddy leaned on the doorframe.

Rita couldn't find her own tongue, due to the surprise of her last thought apparently being vocal.

"R-Roddy!" she blabbered. "H-How much did you hear?"

Roddy chuckled. "Not much. Just 'Marita KayLynn Renaldo Malone….' And until I interrupted you." He walked in and sat beside Rita on her loveseat. "Anxious?" he said, switching his voice from a joking tone to a sympathetic hum.

Rita frowned and nodded. "It's got me on the edge of my seat. I want to go to college so bad, Rodders!" Rita said. Suddenly tears welled up in her eyes. Merely the thought of not getting into PSU was unreal. Her number one dream in life(next to getting a boyfriend, which hadn't been officially fulfilled yet) was to get two Master's degrees, in engineering and construction, so that she could fully upgrade the Dodger to modern terms.

"Rita, I know your heart will break if you don't get the scholarship," Roddy said comfortingly, placing a hand gently on her shoulder. "but I'll be with you no matter what the answer is."

Rita smiled and looked deep into his eyes and whispered, 'Thank You.'

Will Rita get her scholarship? Will she get into PSU and graduate with what she plans to go in for? Find out in Episode 2 of the new "Boyfriends, Degrees, and Dramas" series in Flushed Away.

I hope this'll be a hit!
