Prompt: Blood and Dean or Sam's hands
Spoilers: SPN post AHBL part 2
Summary: The blood on Dean's hands can't be washed away, not this time.
A/N: I wrote this awhile back for the spnfivesenses challenge at LJ. Dean is my favorite character and I love to explore his many different sides, with that said please review and remind me why was the first site I started posting at.
The door closed behind him with a loud click that seemed to echo in the silent room and his eyes met Sam's from across the room.
"Dean," his brother breathed out softly crossing over to him but stopping a few feet in front of him as his eyes widened at what he saw covering his hands. Confusing and fear clouded Sam's eyes as he looked back up at his brother "What?"
"I did what I had to do to protect you." Dean said firmly the sour smell of blood surrounding him following him wherever he went. He felt numb and light headed and he could feel Sam guide him to the room's bathroom.
He watched detached as the cool water ran over his hands washing the blood off.
It didn't matter though, he could still feel it. Slippery, clinging to his skin like an accusation. He had had blood on his hands before. He hunted things for a living so it was nothing new.
Growing up the blood that had covered his hands had more often than not been his, or his father's, or sometimes even Sammy's. He had moved his hands through the wet substance as he had sewed up wounds and added pressure to keep that blood inside.
This time it was different.
This time the blood on his hands was spilled purposely, by him.
It stained and it clung and it was seeping into his skin, into his pores. The knife that had dropped from his hand had been small, a pocket knife. All he had on him when he had seen that familiar face stalking them. It had slipped through easily enough, no different than the demons and the creatures he had hunted. Human flesh was no tougher than that of a monster.
He had been a monster, in every way Gordan Walker had been as much of a monster as the ones he hunted for a living. When it all came down to it the fact that Walker threatened Sam had sealed the deal. Had made it necessary in Dean's mind to do what had to be done.
The things he would do to protect his family scared him, but he would do them.
The water washed away the blood from his hands but he could still feel it pulsating against his skin the warmth turning his stomach with the knowledge of what he had done. Of the line he had finally crossed.
