A/N: Just a completely random little one shot I wrote a while ago. I was actually trying to find something fluffy to write or touch up on because my need for fluffiness was interfering with my SPN fic... anywayz, this story was inspired by my good friend VTCentaurea. Enjoy =D

Rose stood at the open end of a cable car, holding on to the railing as she leaned over the ledge just enough to feel the warm Californian sun on her face. A cool wind blew in, carried by the sea and tugged playfully at her blonde hair. She smiled at the pleasant feeling and only bothered to brush back her unkempt tresses when they had blown in front of her eyes and refused to blow back. The lovely breeze came and went; each time providing comforting relief from the balmy sun above while gently pulling at the locks of Rose's hair as if each strand were attached to an invisible puppet's string. Her smile never faltered as she gazed, eyes squinted in the light, down the steep hill and over the buildings into the great cerulean waters of the Pacific beyond. As much as she loved the wild adventures and running that life with the Doctor often entailed, it was nice just to relax and let something else do all the moving every now and then.
"Enjoying some sun, are we?" a familiar voice enquired with a smile obvious in his tone.
"And the breeze," Rose replied. "The view is gorgeous!"
The Doctor walked up beside her and leaned with his arms folded against the bronze banister. His dark eyes shined with a bright, happy light as he looked out at the city of San Francisco and its neighbouring body of water. "That's the Pacific for you! Largest ocean in the entire world – that's about 33.3% of the whole planet, right there! Over six hundred different species of living organisms call that big blue sea home... What a beauty!"
Rose gave the Doctor a thoughtful look. "Hang on a minute. I thought there were only two hundred or some different species..."
"That you lot know of." He gave her a wink and she grinned.
"Riiiight..."
The unlikely pair stood in content silence after that, shoulders touching as they simply enjoyed one another's company. After a few minutes, the cable car pulled into the station and a bell rang, signalling for all passengers to disembark. The Doctor jumped lightly off of the open end before turning right back around to hold a hand out for his companion. Rose accepted, took his outstretched hand and exited the car with a smile. Hands entwined, the two merged into a crowded San Francisco walkway.
"So, where would you like to go now, Miss Tyler?" the Doctor asked after a moment of walking, arms swinging, down the street.
Rose thought on the question for a moment before answering quite simply, "Hmm... we should go get ice cream. Oh, and then we could go to the beach!"
"Ice cream on the beach in the middle of summer, 1874?" the Doctor paused as if to consider the thought, then he looked at his companion with an excited smile. "That sounds wonderful."
"It's a date, then!" Rose declared, mimicking the Time Lord's giddy grin.
"It's a date!" he agreed.
The two linked arms, their eyes meeting and sparking with a happy light. Then, together, they both headed in what the Doctor proclaimed to be the best ice cream shop in all of California.
