Seeing Things
Twigs broke under Cole's feet as he ran, leaves rustled close behind him. Sweat fell from his brown into his face, ha panted wanting more than anything to just stop running and catch his breath, but he couldn't. She was behind him, and she wanted him. A salty tear fell from his eyes and he wiped it away briefly. That's what he wanted. Chen was manipulating his mind, making him see things. Almost four years had passed since the tragic day Cole lost his mother and her memory haunted him ever since.
A female figure wearing a white night gown held her thin hand up to Cole. He barely dodged a large oak tree but he turned around a looked at her. A crimson red stained the front of her gown, the place she was stabbed years ago. Cole sobbed and choked on his own tears. Snot ran out of his nose and no matter how much he sucked it in it kept flowing out.
Cole shook his head and turned away from his mother's spirit. He used the front of his black mask to wipe away his remaining tears. His eyes red and his face hot he kept walking. Away from his troubles. Why feel something that hurts when you can stop it? His black boot stepped in a puddle of cool mud and got stuck. He tugged at his leg hoping to get away, before she was able to reach him.
Unable to get his leg unstuck he kicked a nearby stump with his free leg. He let out a howl of anger and used his hands to dig away some of the mud. He stopped when he felt something on his back. He turned around as much as his leg would let him and stared wide eyed at the creature who touched him. His mother was as beautiful as ever. Her brown hair smelled of her lilac shampoo and her pearly lips formed a sweet smile. She blinked her lovely hazel eyes and motioned for Cole to join her in a hug. Her stab wound poured blood on the ground and once again Cole shook his head. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. He thought to himself.
His mother looked up at him sadly and pouted. Cole just couldn't resist, for years he had longed for this moment. The moment where he got to see her again, not just a concrete tomb stone. The moment where he got to hug her and see her happy once more. With heavy force he wrapped her in a hug and kissed her on her head, she returned the favor.
He fell right into his trap. Chen lurked in the shadows waiting for the moment Cole had surrendered. Cole snarled when he saw Chen. He had Jay, with his normally blue gi turning a shade of purple, in his captives. Zane and the others weren't there and Cole hoped they got away safe. Chen held up Jay in a mocking way. He chuckled to himself and tossed the master of lighting on the hard ground. Cole looked at Jay then averted his eyes back to Chen.
With a flick of his hand Chen had Cole on the ground right beside Jay. Before he could rise up Chen was already sucking the power out of him. His body seemed to get colder as the green light took away his powers. After a few moments his limp body fell to the ground. Chen, getting all he wanted walked away, probably back to his castle. Cole got up on all four and shuffled to Jay. He turned him over on his backside and gasped. Jay was as pale as a ghost and blood leaked from a wound on his side. Cole shakingly put to fingers to his neck and sobbed when he got nothing. He scooped him up in his arms and continued walking. He prayed the other's didn't come across Chen. This was it, he was forever to be left without his brother and without his powers.
*Gasp* I did not just kill Jay and get Cole almost killed!? Okay, yeah I did... I don't think this one is too sad though... This is my entry to CND's weekly challenge thingamabobber.
